    Vectorman!

I was trying to figure out what this game reminds me of. Mario? Vaguely, but the levels are darker and non-linear, and the enemies are more unpredictable. Earthworm Jim? Close, especially the first one. But EWJ had a gun and a whip :) Then it hit me: Vectorman! The aesthetic and non-linear level designs remind me of Vectorman, which came out at the tail end of the Sega Genesis' lifespan.

The devs really nailed the look and feel of the game. Now all we need is more levels and power-ups. Seriously devs, get creative with the power-ups. Might as well put that "B" button to good use :)

How about a skeet shoot (air rifle) power-up, a limited use ability to collect all birds on the screen? (Disclaimer: initial thought, probably lame)

Edit: killing the birds might be a bit incongruous with the rest of the game, the fact that they fly away when you are hit (perhaps you could shoot netting or stun bullets to make the birds drop to the lowest level with as Zeldaniac suggests later, time slowing down to allow you time to run around and pick up the pigeon relatively unimpeded.)

  4. I think things will get better once the update comes out and some of the control concerns are finalized.

I think the developer is to be commended for listening and updating quickly. Once the update comes out, I am sure the tone if this thread will be different, so don't worry.

  5. Don't worry, we know it is a work in progress, and thanks for trying to get my request in for transparent controls when playing when playing with icade. We'll work with you if anything needs to be improved, so thanks for trying.

Dude, that's actually a really good idea. Maybe the closest 4 or 5 birds though, because there's usually not many onscreen. Also, maybe once you have it, time slows down for a sec and the whole screen does that lo-res effect except baddies, pigeons and your character, and you can hit A to get birds or hit B to kill the nearest enemy.

Edit to respond to Fep52: that's a good idea, plus it'd be consistent with the wrench in that it could use a timer. It'd be hard to run around with everything lo-res, so maybe only use that while he shoots. Also, it'd have to be obvious that it's a dart rifle. Still, I think we've got the makings of a nifty powerup here. :D

    Elemental projectiles are always good-

The cliches; fireballs, electric shock (that kills everything in the water), snowballs (that freeze in the water creating a temporary platform), or

Toxic sludge or a goo gun that reduces enemy armour to one hit (perhaps for bosses it could result in temporary vulnerability ie double hits) or dissolves them completely if they're weak (to fit in with the junkyard theme).

Hahaha you guys would make great game designers. The best part of game design is jamming. You just let it all come out, don't control it too much, creativity is kind of like chaos but chaos is a fierce fire breathing black stallion, and you're riding it, directing chaos towards a meaningful goal, always mindful of dangerous dead ends.

For collecting multiple pigeons, I think we could jam with this concept being a magnetic sort of homing pigeon device - they float towards you if you get near them. Combined with a really tricky Star requirement for say 20 white pigeons and a time limit that's actually hardcore, I envision a mad speed run level.

Liking the various raygunny stuff. Perhaps instead, pressing B drops a little mechanical auto turret that spits out one of the elements in that direction. Perhaps levels could introduce infinite waves so this becomes tactical and exciting. The concept of finite-use powerups was mentioned as well before.

Regarding plumbers crack, well that got me thinking about how plumbers unblock drain pipes and my mind wandered into dark places it shouldn't be. Thanks a lot! :S

Come back at me, with another round of concepts. Unlike just playing at making games, I do actually make them, so your suggestions may well stick with the team and make it in! :D

Haha, I thought you were describing a power up- can you somehow integrate this into the game?? ;)

Eu De Dove perhaps. Btw, have you seen where all these pigeons come from? If not then you've not explored TOB ;)

See, this is the best example of a dev who cares about his game and wants to really make the gamer enjoy the experience! I must say, I'm impressed here!! C'mon, guys, you gotta support these guys!!!!!! :D

What about a "Super Punch" power up that gives the Other Brothers a three punch combo that ends with an uppercut (Right - Left - Uppercut)?

Love the "Plumber Crack" idea. A quick downward attack would be useful. You could make the screen shake when the attack connects with the ground.

So apparently the game doesn't save your scores and stuff. I 3 starred every level, went back to play level one and was just fooling around. Now it has replaced my three stars with one again. I think the game should save the best score that you have gotten previously.

P.S I didn't know that Joe and Jim have a pet sonic the hedgehog lol

That just sounds really unusual. The game should save your scores. Can you confirm that you still see the 3 stars on the actual level select screen? Or are you saying it is not showing them during the game on the end goal post?

Because in-game, it will only show you what you earned that go, while the level select screen will show you the highest progress you obtained. I will now go and check to see if any obvious bugs are in the code. This is the first report I've seen.

well I can confirm that the level select screen showed 3 stars on level 1 before I played it again to fool around. I wanted to see if the game would still be 3 stars if I didn't get all the requirements. Now it shows that my highscore is 0, I have 2/3 gold pigeons and 90/141 oil cans with one star on the level screen.

Big thanks to Kojimakid for finding a bug. I have just fixed it. Basically, it will record your latest score instead of your best score/star/pigeon. I apologise and the fix will ship the same day Apple approves the controls update as I have fixed it this end. There's no excuse for it so I'll make it up to you with more value by making more content for you.

Sorry about that. Feels pretty awful. In any case looking at the code I realised I was recording a lot of things that happen in the level as well with some forward thinking. So we'll be able to have speed run achievements plus some nice stats on how violent you've all been (enemies killed etc). I daresay that game center will have to show more fun stuff for the competitive among you.
