Hey devs, I hope you didn't read my comments about the difficulty level as entitled whining from someone who bought a 0.99 game, was too dumb to figure it out, and then demanded the devs change the game for me me me. I buy disappointing games almost every week. Nature of the app store: you get some wonderful gems, huge surprises, but the flipside is, not everything is for everybody, and that's okay. I usually move on immediately. The only reason I bothered to make any comments at all is that I followed your upcoming thread, I know how hard you worked, and you're so friendly and responsive. I want your game to do well, and I think rethinking the frustration-level will help with that. I want you to sell those 200.000 copies and more and not be a niche game that appeals to hardcore platform fans only. But of course, your game, your business, and you definitely shouldn't try to please everybody because the other people were right: that often means you please nobody.
I think TOB will get my vote. The floating dpad makes it unplayable for me in it's current state, but after the update, it should be awesome.
For those experiencing too much difficulty, there will be some tweaks to the most unfair parts of the game in the coming update plus enhanced wrenches and of course better controls! The controls are so adjustable (everything can be moved or scaled exactly as you prefer) that it can't not make it easier. Another thing, when in combat and you have been hit, jump immediately to catch one of the pigeons you have lost - this will make a dramatic difference to how long you stay alive. Finally, if you hold jump while stomping, the resulting bounce will send you higher, giving you more time to plot where you will land next. Good luck PS. We don't think anyone who has bought the game is "entitled" or trolling. Every single purchase means I do listen, it is after all your game, which you paid for
Hey all, Please feel free to vote for TOB (but do not solicit outside votes) - we must remain fair and only ask TA forum users on our own thread, to vote for our game http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=184369 Bear in mind TOB will be eventually 3 times larger and will keep getting updated in episodic format plus new controls! Thank you And best of luck to all games for GOTW.
I feel it's also worth adding (you know, in the interest of remaining fair) that everybody should survey the developers of all the other GOTW entries to learn what updates and fixes they have planned as well, prior to voting. Don't make the mistake of judging any game based on the state it was actually released in, alone.
QFT Ultimately while we want to win it because we know how much is coming, and have the new update in our hands, we DO believe in fairness. Thank you for being fair No bribes for anyone, except a special place in my heart of course
This would be my biggest request - right now I hardly get any use from them aside from either spamming spanners as I run forward like an idiot, or if I manage to avoid the box, lure enemies back (or at least discover their location) then run back and spam spanners. I think even if you gave us 5 or 10 of them, I'd get more use than with the current timer. They shouldn't stack (I could see someone saving them up making quite a change in the level flow (i.e. don't use a single energy and kill the Cyberdemon in 2 BFG shots (nested comments!)))
Clone of mario. He even looks like mario. Objective is identical to mario too, lol, "save the princess". Toolbox = power mushroom, instead of throwing little fireballs he throws wrenches. Oh well guess retro jump-and-collect-coins is what people like these days. Music pretty good though.
I don't want to give the plot away but the damsel in distress is NOT what she seems... there is a big twist coming up. Episode 3 will reveal all but this current episode you have, has clues if you look carefully enough. This universe is darker. On the surface it seems mario. But look at the AI, and the way things are going - it is not mario There are similarities in what you mentioned but it ends there as you will see as the tale unfolds. [edit] spoiler removed! You'll just have to wait and see.
Did you not "get it" when you saw the title of the game? It isn't referring to this, even though I would love a game based on hip size.
Please don't forget to vote for us if you think we deserve it http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=184369&page=7 .
What would you like to play? I mean, break any game down to simple objectives and you essentially have "get to [location], rescue/kill/destroy [person/object/building], avoid/survive [enemies], collect [other entities.] More or less. You may as well only eat one type of food because food, when you get right down to it, is all the same material in different forms. Do you only eat one type of food, November's Chopin? Why not? It's all the same bar the flavour, texture, colour, nutritional content, wait I just answered the question for you Sorry guys, I'm just unable to stop tangling with comments like this. For shame. I am shamed.
@November's Chopin: I like to think of it as a cheeky nod more than anything, to a series we loved growing up and wanted to pay respect to. There are a fair few nods in other directions too, it's a mix of ideas from a few people wanting to make something fun. I hope you find time to delve into the game and see past it's title and leading characters' appearance
