Here is a little fun video that we took during development. One of the cops riding a dog and feeling all tough! Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Nice Work I had my family playing this all day yesterday (5 iPads! going!!!) -- everyone had a blast. Thanks for delivering a great game!
This. And although I'm not a huge fan of the controls, I've played through games with worse. To of my favourite "platformers" on iOS are flying daggers and dark incursion. Both of which had terrible controls out of the gate. And to some extent still do. I'll enjoy the game no matter what, as it's a great experience. More control options will be great though.
The wrenches mechanic wasn't very well done...it doesn't last nearly long enough to do anything with. And I die way too often. Maybe I just suck, but I've played lots of platformers. :/ Other than that, the game is very well done.
Thanks for feedback! Regarding wrenches, they do need a fix and will get improved. Your design, your game! Let us know what kind of cool powerups and play mechanics you would like to see in the next episode (or maybe even this one) and we will try our best to add them (if it suits the level/game) Not long til update now, hang in there
This may have already been suggested, but it would be nice to be able to skip forward during the cutscenes.
This game is awesome! I adapted to the controls very quickly and the game is pretty challenging. I got 3 stars, all oil cans, and all three gold pigeons in levels 1 through 3 and the first boss so far. Even though I die a lot, I can't stop playing. I love how each level has its own song, unlike most platformers that recycle the same song over and over. A note on the level "Tube Trouble": There is a wind sock (checkpoint) right under the train which I think might need work. I noticed sometimes when I die and go back to that very checkpoint, I die automatically before the black screen even fades out. It seems to happen when the train is coming at the same time you spawn back. What exactly does Bullet Time do for you besides slow down time? It seems that it doesn't really help you besides see everything slowly. I can't wait for episode 2 now!
What's up with people crying about unbalanced enemies?? are we saying we like knowing that we can time each attack the enemy makes thus ensuring the game is a breeze to finish. I like not knowing what moves or attacks are coming, means every time I play it's a fresh run
I have spoken with the team and it's confirmed the price is going up. The Other Brothers has so much extra content coming that it is a massive loss for us right now to keep it at $.99 - it's actual long term price will likely be between $.99 and $3.99 which is an absolute steal when you factor in the plans for 3 episodes and multiplayer. We tried to a do a lot different with TOB, including giving people a chance to avoid being cheated by price manipulations and so on. We are also very open about our plans, I hope you guys can see that is bad business for us but good for you So if you're planning to get it, probably best you do it before Apple approve the new update which is shipping now
Maybe squeeze in a little guide/ help section - just some info about all enemies with their pictures , background story of main characters, special abilities list and some game artwork.Maybe also a section to explain current controller Anyway I would love to see some "bright" stages not just junkyards, factory's ,etc .
Really awesome suggestion, a sort of built in book or tactical guide... Physynth does this as well. But I think due to time constraints we may have to make the tips/guide an online format (but still reachable via the app). Will talk to the team about it. As the world of TOB grows larger (it certainly will) I think this will be needed. Every enemy has it's own aggro range, ai and so forth so it can be challenging to keep on top of tactics.
Well since you asked ... I'd like to see a "butt-stomp" added as an unlockable, but permanent, move. Sort of like Yoshi's butt stomp in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Mechanically, it would work like: tap "A" to jump, then tap "B" to "butt-stomp". It would make dealing with some of the enemies easier. Also, would it be possible to add some sort of underwater attack to deal with the scuba diver enemies?
A fixed virtual joystick would be my preference. Otherwise, I love the game. It's nice to see something that isn't another damn physics puzzler. The art style is great too ^_^
This is getting submitted to Apple any time now with iCade support as well, enjoy! We took all your criticism and went ALL OUT for customisation of controls.
