Hi everyone, 37 here, turning 38 in two months. I'll be at home here too. Thanks Sobriquet for sending me here and as someone mentioned before, if it weren't for iOS gaming, I'd have given up gaming altogether EDIT: 22 posts in a lounge thread in 24 hours? Wow, I'm subscribing to this one just now!
Thank you! Yeah, it's been very misarable. They injected something in my spine yesterday. It will supposed to take effect in the next two days. Hopefully then I will get relief.
Thank you klink! The lack of sleep is making me delusional. Please forgive me if I posted something crazy in the last few days.
Sorry to here about your back issues. Here's to a speedy recovery. Yes, back pain is a terrible thing. I've suffered with back problems most of my life. Having both scoliosis (curvature at the top of the spine) and kyphosis (curvature at the bottom of the spine) has made for some very nasty times indeed. Good luck, friend.
I have kyphosis of the thoracic spine (Sheuermann's Disease) and, yes, it's painful. I get by with loads of PT and yoga, and traction helps. I do sometimes worry about what it will be like if I can't do those things anymore. I work real hard at being fit, so I am hoping I'll be ok with it all even when I am yet more ancient than I am now. Good back vibes to us all.
Good luck with all those pains. I'm suffering neck pain since 2-3 weeks and it's terrible. Sleeping 4-5h maximum because if I sleep more I get terrible headaches. Having to charge with children around doesn't help either... And the worst of all is that too much ibuprofene has made my stomach suffer. It's terrible!
20!!! Bloody whippersnapper I know how you all feel with your aches and pains. I had an accident 6 years ago that left me with severe nerve damage (it's why I make apps but that's another story) One dose of my medication is enough to kill a cow apparently, poor cow, but I do like me a steak. I'm lucky if I get more than 2 or 3 hours sleep a night. So clearly I'm an absolute 'kin delight These here new fangled smart phonamabobs are great for gaming when your short of time. Or when you just need a distraction for a bit because the wife's watching sex and the city........ Again.
I had an L5-S1 spinal fusion in 2004. Best decision I ever made (of course my doctor was a brilliant genius). I went from constant pain to no pain and was off all pain meds 3 weeks after surgery.
I'm not laughing because I know it can be debilitating, but I can't help but note that it only took until about page 2 until our Old Farts group started complaining..."my back!" I'm curious to see whether anyone steps up and bests pluto6! It's like a high score competition. It should come with a forum badge.... Truly Senior Member? I'm a mere 46 in comparison, and my main complaint is suddenly needing glasses to see things like the words on my Hearthstone cards...sigh. When I put on my readers and look at my phone now, it's like having super vision!
Wow! Thanks for all the support! So it looks like I'm not the only one suffering. I hope everyone feels better.
That is hilarious. In fact I had just told my wife something very similar shortly before I read that. Good stuff.
Well, I guess I'm not the oldest, but close, though. I'm 56, but I'm still one crazed gaming fanatic who's been playing since the beginning of time (1972) when it all started! I'm gonna use restraint and not get sucked into the ol' convalescent physical ailment issues and prescription taking conversation. When I was much younger, I'd look at guys at work who seemed to only wanna talk about their ills and medicines and future appointments and I said to other guys my age if that ever happens to me, slap me senseless, 'cause I don't wanna be like that! So I try not to. One of the great things about retirement is you have all the time you need to do anything you want again! And I got lots of fun stuff to do! Bunch of hobbies! It's way better than when I was young because I have all the money I need and can do anything I want plus more wisdom and know all the ins and outs of everything better than at an earlier age. That, and having a incredible wife who gives me lots of slack helps tremendously, I'll tell ya! All things considered, in the big picture, no complaints from me!! Now do me a favor, kid. Grab my cane over there for me so I can get my ass up outta this chair!! Oh, don't forget to grab my glasses, cause I'll be lost without 'em, for crying out loud!!!
