PSA: My brother was complaining that it was hard to navigate TA to find all of Shaun's features, so I put together a list of links to all of the History articles. Thanks for the recommendations! Been considering picking up Ember on steam of it goes on a sale. How's the storyline? Obviously not expecting it to compare to BG or Planescape. It just looks like something that would be easier for me to pick up. Also, any recommendations on ARPGs? I enjoyed Dungeon Quest and Orc: Vengeance. Planning on picking up Titan Quest eventually.
I was about to mention Battleheart: Legacy, but you've done that! Ys is a perennial classic and has been very well-received on iOS, but I didn't care for the controls, myself. I had an EXCELLENT time with Adventures of Mana. It's a high-quality but faithful remake of a GameBoy game, however, so you might find it a bit simple. Crashlands received universal acclaim, but I never got the appeal. But the acclaim really WAS universal, and thunderous. It's a bit unconventional, but Sid Meier's Pirates! could be classified as an ARPG, I suppose! OH! And apparently Monster Hunter is just phenomenal: graphics, gameplay, the world... it's so terrific, I've been too intimidated to try it out.
Ha - Ys, Crashlands and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite were the first three that came to my mind! Ys is great: super fast, brilliant music, and a fairly unique (weird) bump combat system. It's really all about the boss battles, though, rather than grinding for exp and equipment. Crashlands is brilliantly simple and enjoyable. I loved it. And Monster Hunter IS daunting. You get out what you put in: it's probably the most endlessly entertaining ARPG-influenced game on iOS - as long as you don't require a story. Titan Quest is probably closest to the original demands though. Or give 9th Dawn a whirl (1 or 2).
Thanks for the suggestions, will probably give Ys and Adventures of Mana a try at some point. Haven't played Pirates yet either. I own Monster Hunter never felt compelled to keep playing beyond the first hour or two. Just feels like a ton of work getting decent at the combat and figuring out where to start lol. For mobile I generally prefer games like BH: Legacy that I can just pick up and play whenever. Probably will give it another shot when I have the time and clear out my backlog though.
I really, really loved Adventures of Mana. It was like old-old-school Zelda, but with a touching and interesting story, interesting weapons, and great graphics. Oh, and the music...! I hope you have a good time with it.
Landed Lightning on Möbius Japan version and she rocks also I like the fact she can equip two diff style of cards very helpful Also been playing FFVIII a lot on steam lately
Been working through the Trails of Cold Steel duology. Finished up TOCS before starting in on Knights of the Old Republic this month, and now I'm about 6 hours into TOCS 2. Long enough to get back to the overworld area I hated in the first game. :\ Looking forward to the June Reload starting, whatever it is. I'm likely to either get to replay my favorite game of all time, or jump into an online event I've never done before. Either of those sound great! (I guess there's a third option that I would be significantly less excited about...)
I've yet to start the trilogy, though I now own it all. I really wish I could play it on mobile like they can in Japan. But I guess that streaming service isn't going to reach the West. Either way, I'm enjoying FFXV and DQH2 on my Vita and the DQ games on iOS ATM.
XV is so good I really am enjoying it a lot! How is DQH2 I wanted to get it on my pc but it probably wouldn't handle it I need a better pc
I wonder what game it will be for June! I'm not a Star Wars fan so I have been working om DQIV ... Still... Seriously I'm 55 hours in!!! Oh well I hope I can finish it soon at least.
FFV is the June game and this is one I have not played a whole lot so I'm down and already 30 mins in
That's awesome! I started it a while ago but didn't get too far. Time to pick it back up. DQH2 is great. It feels more like a DQ game than the first did. It actually feel a little like DQ meets the action-RPG feeling of FFXV.
Nice I love the sound of that Can't wait to get it I will either get a PS4 or a better CPU soon and then I can play it plus I want to play DQ10 and DQ Builders since I haven't played those either I really regret getting the Xbox one over the PS4 I just wasn't thinking about square games and how they don't exist on Xbox more or less
While waiting for FFV four job fiesta, I decided to pick up Chutulu Saves the World. It's a lot of fun and plenty of lines to make me chuckle.
Yeah, that one and Penny Arcade 3: On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness were two funny little turn-based RPGs. I love having to choose between two skills when you level up!
Enjoyed FFV this month great game Only a couple bosses to go and I got it finished not counting bonus dungeon of course Also playing other RPGs too FFIII, DQVI, FFVI and little time being spent on FFVIII(steam) Hopefully I can maintain these I like all of them but it's tough keeping up with it Sometimes Since I've played FFIII so many times previous I can just play it least and be fine but DQVI and FFVI are two I have been wanting to put more time in on and I'm really seeing the good in both and it's rewarding
