It's a solo developer who wanted to create a world to explore. But he's just kept making it bigger and more beautiful. Just recently, though, he put in a story mode that is more of an emotional journey. Definitely more of an art-like experience than a standard RPG. But as you go through it, you gain the ability to shape change into many animals. It's definitely more like a Western RPG in gameplay, but there isn't any character customization really. It's all about the experience. And the icing on the cake is that he's implemented tons of filters, effects, and detail customization so you can experience the world how you'd like to see it. Then take photos with an in-game camera. Sorry if it sounds like I'm gushing. I'm just on a high after finishing the story. There's a non-HD version in the App Store that I think is just exploration, but it's free. If anyone enjoys that version, I'd recommend the HD version for more options and the not-too-lengthy story mode. Shoot, since you and Dailon80 are so active here, if you two send me your emails, I'd happily gift NL:BR HD to both of you. I got it for free and the dev deserves some of my money! Now, I might be getting back to FFIX on my iPhone and FFX on my PS3, now that I've gone through the new story mode. Definitely going to keep exploring though.
I'm enjoying the new update to Nimian as well. Like you said it's amazing and only one guy behind it. After the new update it feels much more like a completed game. Also very relaxing to play because you can always play it how you want to and at your pace. Submerged is supposed to be out this week and seems to be in a similar vein as Nimian. I would've took you up on offer but I already got it
ios only 1.99 for right now will go up soon so for 2$ its an easy pick siralim 2 is good as well... two best recent releases Siralim 2 is old school RPG slash monster collector... a bit complicated at first but very deep and good stuff
It's not that style of game in other words no need 2 is better it's not a continuation it's more of the dev saying let me do this again but make it better and 2 is way better thats up to you though but it's def two diff games really to me
You're right about Nimian I find it to be the best escape game I love to just find a nice spot to chill and just relax with the environment It's an experience more than a game but there is a game there too
Agreed. Sometimes I just wind up taking photos throughout it. Well, I'm excited to hear the new RPG Reload podcast. It'll pull me back into FFVI for a day or two hopefully. Have they done a podcast on Chrono Trigger? I always want to go back and listen to old episodes, but they get removed from iTunes for some reason. Wish they could all be listed under another podcast too and left up.
Oh, I thpught they did that only for me! Do you have the extra cppy for ios or for steam? Not sure about Chrono Trigger. I think if you have the app you can just go in here and look down and click on it to listen?
Oh, that's good. I'll search in the app and see what ones they've done. And the game is for iOS. But I'd definitely buy it if he ever released it on Steam too.
There is no Chrono Trigger podcast as yet, but Shaun wrote last week that he would be changing the way he does the podcasts, so they're not so slavishly linked to the written Reloads - and he promised that there would be a Chrono Trigger podcast.
Steins;Gate EN which is the English version comes out tomorrow $24.99 Gonna be worth the loot though Shaun have you played any of the Steins;Gate games and what's your impression of them? With Mario coming out its safe to say now at some point we will see Zelda on mobile in some form! One of the great RPGs hope it's good however they do it. They can port Majora's Mask yeah right they won't do that
Any Zelda port would likely be better than whatever new Zelda they might come up with, just like I'd much rather have a Super Mario port than a new runner. But for any of these, if they make them premium or pay-to-unlock the full game, I'll probably buy it if even to just support further paid releases. I don't think it would be too hard for them to make a pretty emulator and sell their classics on it for a small price for each game. Zelda, Metroid, Mario, etc. With good controls, I'm sure it would sell well and fund further new mobile titles.
So... I ripped into my wallet today. So next weeks' airplane trip will be spent playing Dragon Quest VII on a brand new New 3DS with Super Famicom cover plate. Just a little bit exited...
