Played some more. It has a lot of good with it too. The controls are okay. The customising options are great, and I love the Bestiary and achievements. Sound is great, at least to my ears. Really the graphics is the only thing I don't really like, but I'm more used to them today. It's just not dropping my jaw like the first time I played it.
I've never played it before, so I guess I don't have any fond memories to ruin! There's a big gap in my FF history between FFII and FFVII, but I really wanted to try some of the 16-bit classics.
About ten years ago, the question of "the best FF" seemed to be a fairly controversial one (in a friendly way), but opinion since then seems to me to have coalesced around VI. It certainly has always been MY favorite. It makes me so happy to see other people play it -- I wish I could forget my own thirteen playthroughs and experience it for the first time, all over again. Alas...
FFVI would be an amazing place to start then! I find I'm getting used to the graphics now actually. Some backgrounds are gourgeous. The sountrack is incredible and the app has neat features. Probably the best one for you to start with I'm starting V with my sister very soon too. We will buddy play it ^^ I haven't quite reach the end of VI earlier and X was my first one so very fond memories there, but I think I feel it is the best one. V has probably the best replay value though and is exellent too. It depends on taste though. Many prefer VII. A great game too, but I feel it ended right as it got good. The first section drags a little. I like all of them though. I even liked II and III. Got a lucky draw on III I guess lol.
X is underappreciated. I feel they de-emphasized plot in order to have characterization front and center, and X has the best-written, most fully-formed, most relatable characters of any FF, and by far the best dialogue.
10 also has the best, most fleshed-out, and most intriguing world design of any of the games in the series. Like, 12 had a more believable world, but it was also pretty grounded and ordinary. 10 created something wildly different and did a thorough job of making it work. As you say, very under-appreciated game.
Is it underappreciated? I always assumed everyone loved it. Probably becauae it was my first rpg along with Kingdom Hearts and DQVIII. Bought them the same day ^^
Wow, that must've been a really great day! And then a REALLY long night. I always did get the sense that X received a LOT of criticism. VIII and X seemed to be the most criticized FFs, at least until XIII came along, while I felt they were both much better than either VII or IX, which are sacred cows.
I even like x-2 VIII is still my favorite and I don't care who agrees or doesn't It's sentimental first one I beat and I have it steam now and love it just wish it would come mobile one day
Steins;Gate my favorite anime show is releasing their games in English in September!!! Best news I have been wanting to get them from the Japan App Store but now I will wait for English release now. Best mobile gaming news this year for me.
Hmm, I do remember back in the day I felt disappointed by the on-rails feel of FFX. Kept waiting for it to open up, and it never did. Still ultimately enjoyed it, and probably deserves to be revisited.
I've only played the demo I got with some other game I bought. I'd love to dive in eventually. Might pick it up for PS3. But I'd really love to experience it on an iPhone. Weird, I know.
Yeah, I love that at least you Vita owners get to take it with you wherever you go. If we didn't get any of the FF games on iOS, I would have considered getting a Vita.
I have a question. I'm really getting into Kingdom Hearts Unchained. It's my first free to play rpg and now Mobius came out too on top of Exvius! Do you guys find yourself playing more than one at a time? Is it too late to jump in on Mobius later? Also wondering if you actually can beat a story mode or do they add new stuff all the time?
I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this, so feel free to move/delete this post if need be. Anyways, I'm not a big fan of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, and I'm a bit embarrassed to say this, but I haven't played Final Fantasy Record Keeper yet. I was wondering if it is too late for me to start playing FFRK, since it's been over a year since its release.
That would be awesome! Persona, Danganronpa and Steins (is it still being localized for iOS?) are sorely missed on iOS.
