Hopefully this is a suitable thread for me to ask this but it looks like all the RPG-intelligence is concerted here, so I might as well try and ask! I enjoy RPG games but I'm more into the Zenonia, Inotia, Seed-type RPGs. I'm not sure what do you call these type of RPG... classic D-pad pressing, button clicking RPG? And I haven't been seeing a lot of these on the AppStore, the last one I played was Heroes In Time. Wondering if you guys have any suggestions or any recommendations other than Zenonia, Inotia, Seed(s), H.I.T? Played those!
Yay! How far? It is a really good game. I feel like I just get more into it the further I play. So many small touches and so much to discover. It leads your way, but it doesn't feel restricted either. Do you guys like the portrait mode? I am very happy about it. I feel like it suits it. I don't in general have much trouble gaming on my newest ipod since it's so light to touch, but with a shoulder injury it's always nice to be able to give it a rest without having to quit gaming. Especially in summer. We will have a full week of gaming, my boyfriend, my sister and her fiancée ^^ My sister and I will most likely be playing FFV on each our handhelds. My soon to be brother in law will play on his computer. And my boyfriend is probably still playing Star Ocean 5. Looking forward to it a lot ^^
Hmm... Others will probably be more helpful but, if you're willing to spend money, Secret of Mana is the inspiration for a few of those games, and well worth getting. Awkward save system for modern iOS players, but a fantastic game. For a smaller price tag, and with a weird combat system, the two Ys Chronicles games are great ARPGs and very well ported by DotEmu.
I second the suggestion for the Ys Chronicles games. But I also suggest a great Action RPG called RPG Dragons Odyssey Frane. Pretty fun, intense battles and a gorgeous soundtrack.
Looking forward to it, Shaun. I trust a lot your reviews and we have similar tastes in gaming. It is going to be an essential read to any iOS gamer.
I'm probably on a few hours into it right now. I still want to beat 2... But 3 is so much better already AND the anime has been making me want to play it more. Yeah, it's crazy how free it does feel already. And as far as portrait mode goes... I had always wanted a good portrait RPG. And now we have at least seven of them! It makes playing while doing other things easier, especially while waiting for things at work. I'd love a week straight of gaming. Wow. Shoot, I'd love two full days in-a-row. Maybe next month.
Does anyone know why they are bringing over Final Fantasy Brave Exvius not Mobius or Grandmasters? I have played all 3 and the latter two are far better. Just look at their ratings as well Brave Exvius has just two stars as rating on Japan app store and I agree with that rating as the game was not that great to me. Is this version of Brave Exvius going to be the same one I have been playing in Japan app store or am I missing something and they are redoing it. that would change my mind otherwise I can tell you now don't waste the download play the premium FF games instead.
Möbius is coming too, apparently. I dunno, I think Exvius and Möbius are both pretty boring, but Exvius probably got priority because Brave Frontier is one of the few social RPGs to do well outside Japan.
I see and I also agree Mobius isn't the best of the free to play FF games I give that to Grandmasters I enjoy fighting and teaming while also talking with other players. It's an MMO FF and I find it okay to play. It can get a bit repitive though. What I like most about Grandmasters is the character customization which is great. Exvius takes up very little space and so I will probably play it again when it launches.
I liked II too. Guess I like all DQ lol. But yes III is better. Fun to play in order though. I like it Shin Megami Tensei is also in portrait mode. It's not for everyone probably though even though I liked it a lot. Yes, it will be nice to just so some gaming for some days. It will be sort of our vacation this year lol. Or part of it. My sister is my best friend alao so getting to spend some days with her is great. Will probably play board games during evenings
And I was thinking I only like Dq in portrait Shin is a great game took some time to figure it out but it's a winner for sure
I love the portrait mode of the DQ series too. I wouldn't want every RPG to be in that format, but I love that we have this incredible series with a unique spin for iOS. Didn't know Shin Megami Tensei was also in portrait - it's been on my watchlist for ever! Just don't feel I can get it till I knock off some others first.
I was thinking Secret of Mana too. Even though a little different from Zenonia and the like. I'm glad you got some suggestions. Maybe Shaun will have some for you too, he's probably been through most of them.

Nice! Ever since starting to watch that Dragon Quest anime, I've been playing a little DQ III alongside some DQ II. Might switch it up tonight and go back to IV or VIII. So many to choose from!
It's way to many lol. Luxury I've been playing a lot of III too. Might be close to half way, or maybe a third.
Another FF IX update it seems like this game gets an update every week but that's certainly no complaint!
