It's pretty big as I understood? Or was it VI, don't remember. I'm going to play I-III first, so I haven't played them yet
Looking forward to checking these out. Character, story and music are my favorite elements of gaming.
About to play Final Fantasy VIII for the first time in a while I bought a laptop for steam for the purpose of getting this game and well it will be useful 4 work
Legend of Heroes trails in the sky the 3rd is out in the Japan App Store for 2000 yen and so that completes the trilogy Also Valkyrie Anatomia the new square enix game is available in Japan App Store so I picked it up too. Is it out in the us yet? I'm so into legend of heroes that I'm buying them again on steam This trilogy is great!
Dammit, Dailon! So want to play those Trails in the Sky games. Any tips for learning Japanese really, really quickly? (Without uprooting my family and moving to Fukuoka or anything...)
Perfectly good reason lol It's on my radar to play in not too long a while too. I'm playing it on PSP and FFIX on ios when I finish some I have already. After beating DQI, I started DQII. So far in every way it is so much an improvement over The first, so I'm just waiting on the point where it becomes the reason for the least liked one, so far I love it
That's the nice thing w the steam version it's English There is one way to play it and not be all that familiar w Japanese that I can think of. Go to YouTube and find where someone did a playthrough for the game in English example PS vita version and then you just do what they do more or less. Watch the video take notes only problem there is you wouldn't know your inventory or be able to check your bracers notebook cuz it would be in Japanese. If you can't read Japanese best way is to get it PC through steam they have part 1 and 2 of the trilogy with 3 set to come out next spring literally On the phone I have the whole trilogy in Japanese and then I play them English on steam works nice that way
I'm into dragon quest 2 as well after finishing first one It's better for sure and after not playing it for about a week I need to dive back in. There isn't enough time in the day to play all the RPGs I love so I want to find a better planet haha Romancing the saga 2 for those who haven't played it yet is a really great game and it's one I keep going back to lately. Can't stop playing it
I'm through the roof waiting for Romancing SaGa 2! I love Sqaure Enix releasing all these games on iOS! Can't help myself lol ^^ It's definitely not enough time! Escpecially for not having played them from the start.
Or in other words: is the plain ugly, blurry sprites worth enduring for the ease of playing on an ipod? Or is even the gba version better?
Substantially, there's no difference between them: the GBA version introduced two new dungeons, several new espers (summons), and a revamped translation. The iOS version changed the graphics and the GUI only. I actually LIKE the new sprites, but was ambivalent towards the interface; I found it clunky on my iPod, but it was pretty nice on an iPad. Perhaps if I had first experienced the game on iOS, I'd prefer it, but the d-pad interface of the SNES/PS1/GBA versions just seem so much easier to me. In other words, if you really dislike the new sprites, you're missing out on nothing by playing the GBA version, and the iOS interface is okay, but not --that-- great.
Short answer: no version is definitive. It depends on which drawbacks you can tolerate. Gun to my head, the fan-patched GBA version that improves the music. Long answer: the iOS version is great, and I don't mind the new sprites (quite like them, actually). But I don't like how the various visual elements are inconsistent with each other. Backgrounds, character sprites, and 3D map objects feel like they were done totally independently of each other, creating a slightly unattractive mish-mash appearance. If this doesn't bother you, the mobile version is good. The GBA version is also great but the GBA's screen is a lower resolution than the SNES, so some visual bits lose their punch. The biggest drawback is the music. It had to be redone for the GBA's sound chip and the cart's memory limitations, so it sounds low-quality and the results of the remixing definitely vary in quality from song to song. If this doesn't bother you, the GBA version is good. Note there's a patch made by a fan that restores the music. If you get that, this version is my favorite. The original SNES version is great, but it does lack the extra content of later versions. That content isn't all that great, but it's something to consider. Worse, there are some nasty bugs in the original version that make a lot of gameplay elements work incorrectly or not at all. If this doesn't bother you, the SNES version (and by extension the Wii Virtual Console version) is good. The PS1/PSN version is an abomination. It's a poorly-emulated version of the SNES original, so it has all of the bugs found in that version. It also has awful, frequent, long load times, the sound and music is slightly off, and there's some weird battle slowdown not present in the original. But hey, it has a couple of neat CG movies. Avoid this version like the plague. If a friend tells you it's fine, they are not your friend. They mean you harm and should be treated as a villain most vile. My ranking = patched FF6 GBA > FF6 iOS > FF6 SNES > unpatched FF6 GBA > eating metal shavings > FF6 PS1
Improve the music? I can't get why it should be improved. Guys, you're staying too critical to the current version I guess.
Thank you both!! I do have an android mobile for all those no translation games that exists from the past; like Treasure no Rudras. If Square decide to do them fof iOS I would still buy every single one lol. I feel like RomSaGa2 was a huge step, I guess they just have to tap from a non FF backlog soon anyway. I hope ^^ I'm a strange one for ports/remakes. Guess I just like my handheld gaming. I do have the gba version, but the micro is so tiny and battery is crap.. Might buy it just to see and play it if I like it if not play fantrans. First and then have the iOS for easiness later. I was actually okay with FFV so I should be able to accept it. I have some other things to play first anyway, but the question has bewildered me for a while.
Guess I am a good customer lol. I actually bought every FF on PSN when I knew nothing. I'm happy I have FFVIII and VII. The other is retired I think after the FFIX on iOS. Those loading times sounds killing for VI and V. Still enjoying pushing down my backlog. I found playing DQ first and now DQ II gives a little fun extra thing in revisiting old locations! Enjoying just roaming around, picking up a bunch of stuff.
