Better just strap on my best shoes and luck charms and start walking then And maybe play some Dragon Quest in between... Great answer concernimg grinding!
Some cool news on Final Fantasy 15 It's not just going to be a game There will also be a movie based on it and an animated series that serves as a sort of prequel to the game. Here is a link to episode 1 of the 5 part animated series. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fsVhwsUFaDE Also the mobile game of course too. September 30th I will be buying this one For Xbox one... Can't wait Also the movie should be out before the game. All this is in an article on Vice.
Also thanks Shaun for the write up on Romancing Sa-ga 2 I was not aware of the final fantasy connection that's very interesting stuff. All I can say is I am enjoying it a great deal and yes it is final fantasy's complicated cousin that's a great line But I'm getting it down and learning it. Fun game and I do hope one day it goes English but if not oh well I'm still enjoying it in its native language. The way I am about games is similar to movies; if I'm watching a foreign film I want it to be in the language of the people in the film not Godzilla style poorly done voice overs in other words I prefer my Godzilla in Japanese and the same for games where the story originates elsewhere. Final fantasy DQ and all those great games are Japanese games and I enjoy them in their original intended form. Now I understand I am in the minority on this opinion. And trust me it is a tough language to learn but the internet makes it possible and it's even more rewarding. Great write up and also I do want it to go English because that will mean more gamers getting to enjoy it and I think with the style of games people are into now this might could do well but then again it's far from free so I could be wrong
Yeah, I'll do that soon. It's too big for one post so I'll probably have to cannibalize my second post to do it, haha.
Shaun - you have any pull with Square Enix? After putting in aver 150 hours in Chaos Rings 3, I am itching to go back and replay 1, 2, and Omega - but they are all broken under ios 9. They say they are fixing them, but that was months ago.... Any point in us fans writing them, or putting up bad reviews on itunes (although i personally hate that practice)?
Dear pluto6, if you are willing to forgo the Japanese voice-over I have found that you CAN play the original Chaos Rings under 9.x. Simply go to the options menu and turn the 'Voice' setting all the way down (to Min). I've played over 41 hours of the original over the last month with absolutely no problems. Give it a whirl! Edit: Not sure if this work-around works for CR 2 and/or Omega as I don't own them and am not willing to buy them in order to discover that it doesn't and be disappointed. Thus I would be very happy to hear from someone (who does already own them) if turning the Voices off works with them as well...
I can second that I have part I and that's it but it works fine if you do that and I am on the latest iOS.
Thanks. I will try it and will post about 2 and Omega as well. Here's hoping!! Tested on Omega and it appears to work. Downloaded 2, but deleted it before I tested it due to space issues. Probably will work though it f it works for 1 and Omega.
Yeah, that fix works. As for any pull with SE, I'm afraid I don't have any. I think they're actually a little displeased with me at the moment. But from what I've heard, it's just a matter of Media.Vision finding time to do the fixes. They're currently working on a few big console projects so it might be a little while yet. SE is absolutely interested in having them updated, though, so I wouldn't worry too much. Weep instead for poor Drakerider and Song Summoner. ; ;
Thanks for the update. It is surprising to me that Chaos Rings 1 is so much more fun after playing 3. I never really got into the first 3, but then playing CR3 got me hooked and I am excited to actually play the early ones since I understand the mechanics of the game much better.
Many thanks pluto6 for this information. Upon such good news I'll definitely be buying Omega when I'm finally done with CR1. Cheers!
Do you think Romancing SaGa 2 means anything could happen in the future? Any chance of Star Ocean and Seiken D 3 do you think? Also do you know if the VIII DQ on 3DS will have voice acting? Don't know if it's out in Japan yet. Anyway very exited for Rom SaGa 2. I feel cherished lol. I have a weird thing with playing old rpg's from snes era on new handhelds ^^ Nice stream Shaun. Couldn't watch too much because I didn't want to spoil the game for me
Loved the PSP reload. Never went down the Nintendo road, so it was great to revisit those days. I had a choice of only Breath of Fire or Tales of Eternia when I got mine (on import to UK from Japan), and went for the latter - and ended enjoying it. However, I missed out on Trails of the Sky, and didn't even hear about it till years later, when my PSP had been passed on. Shaun, if you don't have pull with Square Enix, how about Nihon Falcom? I really want an English translation in iOS!
Falcom's not really the issue here, I think. They'll license the game out pretty happily. The version that's up in the JP App Store is through the streaming games service that spun out of Square Enix's failed service, though, so I think that one is a non-starter. I've always believed the best hope of the Trails games making to iOS is with Dotemu, as they've already established a relationship for the Ys games, and the Trails engine isn't that far off tech-wise from the Chronicles engine. I imagine further games (such as Trails) are dependent on how well Ys does for Dotemu, but there's an additional concern. Namely, Dotemu seems to be doing their own localizations and not using XSEED's. I'm not sure the reasoning behind that (maybe XSEED doesn't want to or can't license the locs, maybe Dotemu would just rather do their own), but there are several orders of magnitude difference between localizing an Ys game and localizing Trails. Ys is relatively text-light for an RPG, while Trails (especially SC) are among the largest scripts in JRPG history. I don't think Dotemu could feasibly do it on their own, so it would really depend on whether or not XSEED can play ball, and is willing to. But that's all predicated on Dotemu (and Falcom) wanting to do it in the first place, which means those Ys games need to start selling better.
Beat Dragon Quest I today on ios. I have to say when you think that this game is from 1986, that's when I was born, it's quite amazing what they could do with limited technology. Love the port, I love the portrait mode and the colors. On to the last 2 versions of Chronodia lol. That Labyrinth of Time in FF really tests your sanity ^^ Looking forward to each installment here and podcast. The last podcast were really great too!
I beat it a couple months ago and enjoyed every minute of it as its a great port of an old game. Still trying to beat V but time is not friendly to me lately since I started a new radio show but in time I will beat it too!
