Shaun how about reviewing some of Hyperdevbox games? Spectral Souls, Blazing Souls, Record of Agarest War?
They're on "The List", so I'll get around to them eventually, but you can of course vote for one of them sooner if you'd like.
New article's up! As most guessed, it's Costume Quest. Whoa, I'm a poet, and I didn't even know it. Hope I don't blow it!
Yet again a very entertaining read. I knew Costume Quest was gonna be featured soon coz of halloween, and it's pretty much THE trick or treat game The controls for me was ok, pretty workable, but IMO the weakest point of this is not using the entire screen for combat. The framed combat scene isnt improving the game's atmosphere, nor does it allow some crazy new control system or anything like that. I just dont get that design, but fortunately the game was charming enough that i looked past that.
Shaun please next Rpg reload should be the majestic "The World Ends With You Solo Remix" this rpg was so important for ios Gaming development, and is kind of forgotten, this game shocked the world at its moment since its DS release, is important that many realize such a unique rpg is available for ios. And that is not a common rpg as others.
TWEWY is one of my top five DS games. It'll definitely be featured at some point, but I think it's probably best to wait until it works for iOS 8 users.
For sure the ios 8 update will be in any near moment, as some FF games have already Been updated from SE. Shaun this one will really make everyone read the rpg reload, and is necessary for new generations to realize the importance of this rpg. So until then, will wait for it anxiously!
So, I think I've settled on the new Reader's Choice rules for 2015. 1) Everyone votes once per month for the RPG they want me to play next. 2) When the time comes, I assign every person who voted a number. 3) I pick a number at random. 4) Whoever's number comes up will see their choice as the next Reader's Choice. Basically, this still allows a popular choice a *better* chance of being selected, but also allows for quirky stuff like Vay that some people vote for but will never actually get a majority on. I hope this sounds okay to everyone!
Late to the party as always, just popping in to say hi and thanks for the great series of articles! I'm a long time gamer with a soft spot for rpgs and roguelikes. I think the first rpg i ever played was the NES game 'Swords and Serpents', unless there's something from the c64 era i can't recall. I've also wasted more hours than I'd like to admit on Angband and its many variants, 'Mordor, the depths of Dejenol' (anyone remember that?), and a lot of SNES rpgs (admittedly, most of it using an emulator). I'd like to vote for a Spiderweb game for the next user choice as well, Escape fom the Pit. Imho, their games deserve some extra exposure. Made with a lot of love and effort, huge backstory and world, just amazing. (Such wow!)
Very unlikely in the short term, but it's certainly something we'll look into in the future. I have a family and a full-time day job, so it's rather difficult for me to spend even more time doing production work and such in addition to my current responsibilities for TA. I would love to do it, though, so... yeah.
