I working on finishing DQ2. Finally made it to Rhone, but Im going to now level up and zoom around to get all the weapons I missed. I really enjoy this one, way more than most people I guess.
I just got started on it but I’m also playing V more I do think V actually is the best of all the mobile ones even over vii. V is just so good II isn’t bad so far I just don’t like the UI how when you hit the back arrow deal on the bottom you have to hit it like 5 times to get it to work. It’s the controls UI and some of that I think they could inprove it a lot more but they won’t As far as story and gameplay it’s really an excellent game for an old RPG game... DQ1 is old too but doesn’t feel as clunky that’s the best word for it clunky I did end up with the Gringham whip, 3 metal slime swords, 15 leaves, 20 elvin elixirs and the bracers so I cleaned the casino out ha I
just what i need on V another time waster haha now i am on the island with all the slimes so hoping to recruit some... I am sure I will be spending a lot of time here and maybe i can snag the elusive metal slime ha not likely
My recent obsession with DQV led me to play the DS version since I havent played it just the iOS version. I cant pinpoint what it is but it seems more difficult than the iOS version, can that be confirmed? I like the ds version better actually too Im gonna be picking up DQVII 3DS very soon seeing as I have never played DQVII in English so that should be great since I love that game and the 3DS version should be awesome in 3D!
Quick update. I actually stopped on DQ VI. Not sure what it is, but I just was not enjoying it. I got to the mission to take on Murdaw and just didn't care to continue. I may pick it up again later as it might just be fatigue. I don't think it helps that DQIV and DQV both have a really interesting narrative structure while VI seems like standard fare after playing a few other rpg's with a dual world twist. For time wasting I'm running with rerunning Battleheart with my two person team of Paladin and Ranger. I'm going to take another crack at Final Fantasy Dimensions, a game I tried and abandoned not long ago. Good to see the thread still active!
(Okay, I admit; this is a bit of an excuse to post in the new forums as well... ) Well, it's really not an iOS game but I'm currently playing Zelda Ocarina of Time on my 3ds. Never played it before and having a blast, love the dungeon designs too so far. What's a bit weird though is that I did play Majora's Mask 2 or 3 years ago, which is a sequel to OoT, and I noticed it contains a lot of the same melodies (and sprites ofcourse).
And I've been lured away from most of my console and iOS games by good ol' Pokemon. Actually, it was playing Dragon Warrior Monsters and Pokemon Go that made me decide to give Pokemon Yellow a try, and see what my younger brother loved about this franchise. And I'm having a blast. It really is like the monster collecting of Dragon Quest and Earthbound's modern RPG style had a baby. I'm loving it! Now, if only I can find a darn Prima Pokemon Yellow guide so I can scan it and use it on my phone. I don't know why every book isn't scanned and made available to buy these days. Authors and publishers gotta figure this out. Although, I did just buy Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth today. I've been waiting for it, but all I can think about is catching this stinkin' Mew in Pokemon Yellow.
...huh. Looks like I can't post on Safari anymore, which is kind of a drag... Anyway. I enjoyed DQVI far less than IV and V. I repeatedly had trouble figuring out where to go (the dual worlds did not help, but travel methods being hyper-specific instead of stacking their abilities on top of each other was also Not Great) and eventually just had to get a walkthrough. I didn't have the patience for it after a while. Since I've been unable to post for a bit (crazy life stuff going on), I've played through Xanadu Next on PC and have been working on Ys VIII on Vita. I love Ys, but I think it's lost its way. Already wasn't the biggest fan of the weapon triangle / party system they introduced in 7, the bonuses you get for dodging attacks with decent timing really make the games too easy. and both 7 and Celceta were a bit long for games in the series. VIII continues all of those trends and appears to be stretching out the length straight to Sillytown. I'm at 35% of the way through the map 13 hours into the game. Ys did not need a tower defense mode... or a city building segment... or a relationship meter... So, I think I might be jumping over to The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 3 while I have plenty of time to use my PC, and save Ys for later when I'll be limited to handheld stuff. I also played through God Wars on Vita, which was not terribly exciting. The battle system was pretty good. The skill and job systems were fun. But the story, characters, and localization? I don't think the game was a good candidate for being localized, to be honest. The game is so steeped in Japanese lore that there was no good way to bring it over. Even so, a lot of the character interaction just *sounds* awkward and could have been done better: for example, the main character has a sister, and she unfailingly refers to her as "Sister Sakuya", which I realize is a literal translation of what she was saying in Japanese, but it sounded really unnatural over just, you know... addressing her by name? That kind of thing got really distracting.
Here we are a year or so later and I still haven’t got around to DQVI. Planning to start it soon to finish the first six Dragon Quest games. No real excuse. I beat 1-5 a while back, started 6, and just didn’t finish. I’m going to restart and make a new go of it.
I am playing DQVI again now ha Still haven't beat it have to keep restarting because I forget what was going on ha It's a good game enjoy!
Monster Hunter Stories is out now in the USA App Store This game is very polished on mobile and worth every penny spent! I highly recommend it and it looks like the Japan version isn’t going to add English so I may have to buy it again and I’m okay with that as the game is that good for me If you have the Japan version you can’t play multiplayer with someone on the other version things like that make it where I need to grab this version too
FInally remembered to log in here when I was at computer. Sad I can't go in through app any more :/ Are you guys well and gaming? I have played a lot the last months. Tons of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and also on a quest to play every console rpg up to ps2 era with a podcast (rpg golden years). Right now we're playing Phantasy Star II and I'm also playing Wizardry I for nes and Bahamut Lagoon ^^
Played a bit of The Quest Classic recently, but it kinda sizzled out after a while. Weird how that sometimes goes, I wasn't doing too bad either. I'm currently playing through Zelda Oracle of Seasons on my 3ds (Virtual console) after just having finished Oracle of Ages. While it's certainly dated a bit, the dungeon designs are pretty awesome. And awesomely difficult at times, I like it!
Oh hey, I can post on my iPad again, five and a half months later... In the interim, I replayed TWEWY Solo Remix on my iPod, rather than buying the new release on Switch. Had a little bit of discussion on my Twitter feed about TWEWY, including a fairly large disagreement with an old friend of mine who disparaged the Switch version at every turn. After talking him through some reasons why I liked the Solo Remix version, he softened a little. I think the original TWEWY hit him at a very sweet spot in life - lots of free time and friends to do the wi-fi connection with - and if it came out now, he wouldn't have quite the same opinion of it. Elsewhere on iOS, I downloaded Egglia Offline and SEGA Forever Shining Force collection and intend to play those. I got pulled away from the former by Disgaea 5 on Switch; played that to completion and did some postgame stuff. Quit before the final postgame boss; it's going to take me at least another 20-30 hours of grinding to even be able to scratch him.
Finally jumped back into Chaos Rings 3 — decided to start over, since it had been years. Loved 1 and 2, but never quite got used to the rhythm of 3. I also dug the more mature subject matter of the first two games, while the third seemed to draw from more standard JRPG tropes. Still, I know the game has a ton of fans, and after playing through (and thoroughly enjoying) Monster Hunter Stories, I thought it was worth a revisit.
Picked up Dragon Quest Monsters Terry’s Wonderland SP from the Japan App Store for 2400 yen and it was well worth it. Sure hope it gets and English version. This was remastered for phones for the games 20th Anniversary and it’s amazing. Includes more monsters and some from DQ XI plus more dungeons. Super polished graphics, controls are excellent Loving it so far!
I'm now over 7 hours in on Dragon Quest Monsters Terry’s Wonderland SP and I have got to the point of breeding monsters! I hope this gets a worldwide/English release in the future as this is my favorite mobile game to date! Everything about it rocks! Sean, do you know if this will ever see an English release?
