So I think it's just proper to have this thread. New and old forum members are welcome. Reminiscing the good ol days when the forums were just starting... It was about during these months a year ago that I got invited by nickel to join TA so yeah, go blame him for me being here. LOL Venger, Snail Mail, Scoops and TanZen. PHARTGAMES with the Mangle's are a few stand outs from that circa. I love how some people from then remained here and some people left. However I did enjoy having and meeting the new peeps as well. Anyway, what can you share from the past? ----------------- TOUCHARCADE FORUMS Circa 1 MOST EPIC Threads: Bootant WHY! - Arn used to block Bootant because of their multiple updates. LOL. They're now A+++ PREREQUISITES For Devs And Their Games - MUST READ! This one's fun 200 SPORE CODES Craig Manually Typed and Sent Himself! - aka the thread that banned users distributing codes I'll keep updating this for people finding epic threads. LOL
I remember anxiously awaiting Spore, only to be hugely dissapointed after shelling out $10 for it. I remember when Pangea was the biggest dev in the app store I remember the Christmas blackout when we went nearly a week with no new game releases (hoping that doesnt happen this year )
I remember getting my first iPod....jailbreaking it. Later when 2.0 came and I found out about there I joined (I joined September, but trolled around before). Remember making the wallpaper and pissing everyone else. And EDNG being here, Brew making threads about new most online. I don't think there are too many first gen ppl remaining superbad. P.S: OMG I had forgotten about the x-mas outage. I was sooooo bored. P.S.S: I also remember Urban Tycoon. LOL. We (well it was someone here but I forgot who) did a WHOIS scan and got his address and stuff. Good times.....
I remeber buying my first iPhone (Original iPhone 8GB, new, unlocked + jailbroken - £200! ). And I remember installing my game from cydia - a very basic build of 'Raging Thunder' with no sound and only playable in portrait view (this was before it came to the App Store). Even though it was very basic, I was amazed that it was in 3D and even more amazed that I could tilt my iPhone to steer! lol.
ah I first started buying apps around November I remember when I had my iPod filled with old free junk...Cube runner!
I remember when Raging Thunder was the only decent racing game around. ... and snail mail... and the outage... and honestly not much else. I only started lurking in November after all.
I remember waking up one morning to see Warfare Inc on the store, it was a very good day. I hope I wake up this week to find an update for it. The dreaded Payback release. The threads asking for promo codes and beta positions. The first moderators. Blake used to participate in the forums. My first gen touch (RIP). A year later and I still have to select the forum search function twice when browsing on my iPod
i remember the epic battle between the people that thought fastlane was to hard and the people that liked the challenge. the battle of scores on the ZA! thread and i miss phartgames wish i knew what air mangel was. i also feel this site has held up rather well with the explosion of people joining still feels like a club instead of a giant social network.
I also remember the Urban Tycoon thing and EDNG and brewster ect ect This has gotten to a new level of geekiness I think
I got my ipod touch when it was 1.1 firmware. I jailbroke. It was many months later when I found out about TouchArcade.
Honestly, I don't remember a thing from that era. Probably too much egg nog and rum. Either that or I hadn't joined yet. Maybe a little of both.
Blake's retro fetish. Seemed like there were at least two retro game articles a day back at one point.
Oh yes do I miss those days! IPOTCH FTW! that and the beginning of TOFTT... Oh maybe the worse thing to happen yet! I remember the beginning of Pocket god, and I remember waiting more then anything for Sim city, which came out on my B'day! Sadly nobody but me seemed to like it
I remember EDNG (R.I.P) and the hype about Billy Frontier and the anxious waiting for Need for Speed Undercover.
