I decided becuase there are some music threads on here to start a nerdcore thread to discuss artists and songs. I'll start. Teh best Nerdcore artists Beefy- dope beats and smooth lyrics check out his song Sidekick and Geek Out Schaffer the darklord- metal drummer turned nerdcore rapper- Check out Craigslist and Battlefont Mc Lars- The totally 90's nerdco- wait I mean "Post Punk Laptop Rapper" check him out if you love the ninties. Mc Frontalot- The guy who started it all Jonathan Coulton- the guy who sung the Portal song Mc Chris- Very funny and has realesed albums through adult swim So that is just to start the thread have fun discussing songs and check out the ones I posted.
If I remember correctly they were the first guys to be entirely electronic. Pretty big deal back in the day, but these guys sing about computers and a bunch of other nerdstuff... Not sure if that' nerdcore?
Well thats technacally what nerdcore is it's nerds rapping about stuff nerds like videogames and yes computers. It's silly and more highbrow than most rap. So pop in Monty python and Geek out.
Well if that's the case than Kraftwerk would be the originators! It would be silly nowadays for someone to sing about a pocket calculator, but back in '81 I would imagine a pocket calculator would have been pretty epic!
HORSE the Band probably counts as nerdcore, I think they go with Nintendocore though. The main difference being no rapping and a lot more metal but a lot of their songs reference game characters and they "borrow" a few sounds from retro games for their keyboard parts as well.
hey midian have you seen Mc lars apparently his album has charted over there a couple of times and he goes on a Uk tour like every year.
Horse the Band and Powerglove get my vote for nerd shit, though Powerglove just replicates old video game music in Power Metal form. Hahhaha
