They're reworking the game - they got a new engine. I think they posted not too long ago that they're getting close to finishing.
Hey guys, anyone still playing this game. I saw this on the App Store and quite intrigued after reading the description. But I also read that the board game aspect and the final fight are the weakest links. Reviews of the game isn't too kind either.. Is the developers still supporting this game? I went to their official forums and its a pretty dead place over there since late last year. Artfoundry's post above mentioned that they're reworking the game, is it confirmed? If so, I might get this game because I love horror theme games.
I still play it from time to time, it is single player only and nearly identical to dungeon solitaire ( if you have that). I really havent had any crashes and it seems stable and fun enough, but I have no idea about update. I would give the game a 3 out of 5. It's ok to kill some time every now and then but nothing that really hooks you in and makes you want to keep playing like card combat, ascensions, and orions2, and neurooshima hex.
Can I confirm if the conversion of Necronomicon Horror to this new 3D engine is an update to the existing game or a totally new app by itself?
Sigh. Every time this thread gets bumped, I hope it's for news of an actual update. And, every time, it's not. (Not a shot at you, aaronius ... it's a shot at the developers and their glacial pace.)
Agreed. I can't wait for this. Honestly I still like the old version, but I'm really excited to see how the new engine works, new cards, etc.
Haha sorry to disappoint you Duke.. I am considering getting the game now, just that i am not sure if the update to the new 3D engine is an update to the existing game or a totally new game? I don't want to buy the game already then they release a brand new one.
I'm guessing it will be an update to the existing game though perhaps with a new visual style. I doubt they'd completely change the entire design. Heh, sorry Duke for another "disappointment".
FYI, the conversion to the new engine won't be a new or separate game, it'll be the same game with some new artwork and cards. After that, I'll begin looking at some ideas I have for expansions. Sorry for the slow pace, but there's only two of us (aside from the artists), and we both have other projects we're involved in too. Things will pick up pretty soon, and in the near future we won't have to write the game again from the ground up, and just focus on creating additional content...
Thanks for the update Dustin! Hearing from you has reassured my decision to get the game. Really hope the update will be out soon!
Yeah, the HD version will follow shortly after the next update. That will take advantage of retina-display and iPad resolutions, and be a separate app. But we're also updating the current version with all the new HD artwork which was created, so everyone who already bought the game won't be left out, you'll be getting virtually the same content in a free update, it will just be formatted for display on older devices. After that business is finished then I'll look into opening the in-app shop to offer additional expansions.
I am using an iPhone 4 which has retina display. If the HD version will take advantage of retina display, should I wait for it to be released and buy it rather than the current version?
Sure, I can't say exactly when it will be out for certain, but it shouldn't be too much longer judging from where we're at with it right now.
time has come ok, dear players, this time bump is a "good bump" ; ) Im very happy to announce that the update will be submitted in next few hours (as usually will be released on appstore in 5-10 days if all well), so the update done on another engine, you'll be able to play the game even on ipod 2nd gen for any amount of hours without any memory issues. There are a lot of small changes/differences with current game's version: gameplay and visually, more cards and totally different balance, I'll not list all of them, you'll check it out soon ; ) HD version is ready (testing phase) and will be submitted little bit later ; ) hope you'll like the updates and we will move on to add more cards and more features!
