Is it going to be a separate game? That would be disappointing ... What am I going to do with then hd version that still crashes a on my iPad then?
I tried to sign up like but I always receive "confirmation code wrong". Did it well over 10 times. Hmm I have barely touched it due to all the problems and now a separate HD version is coming out..

Sometimes I think that I'm playing a different game than others here. I had some concerns with the initial build, but nothing a bit of tweaking wouldn't fix. I have a non-jb iPhone 4 with latest software and never had a crash. I just downloaded the update, and I'm happy to say the experience is improved in every way! The biggest difference I noticed was the increased difficulty. I had never lost a game before. This version is much tougher, but doesnt seem unfair at all. The game board (now optional) has been much improved and makes a lot more sense now. I can't wait to see where this is headed.
Thanks for your comments! In the near future new and existing players who like the game and have an iPad/iPhone4/iPod Touch4 will have the option of upgrading to HD and retina-display for 0.99 cents when we release the HD version. Then after a time the HD version will go back to it's normal price. Everyone who has the non-HD version will still get a free upgrade of all the artwork we're creating for the HD version, but of course, it won't be HD. Any future DLC created will be available separately, in both HD and non-HD versions. And of course, we'll support both versions as needed, with DLC, new features, performance, and stability upgrades on a regular basis.
I'm with you 100%. The only difference being I'm playing on a non-jb iPhone 3gs. I had some little quirks with the initial build, but nothing that really annoyed me enough to stop playing. I got the stuck card issue a couple of times, and another issue placing the cards, but they were relatively minor problems, and most of my time was spent enjoying the game. I haven't had a chance to play around much with the new build, but I'm looking forward to doing so.
Excellent. Thanks for keeping this game affordable. I mean most devs try to sell their games for as much as possible, but you've been quite generous from day 1. I hope this game is very successful. I love your attitude.
Can I ask how current users will be notified, do I need to keep a close eye on this thread? I'm more than happy to pay .99 cents more for beautiful HD art for my iP4 but I'd rather not pay full price again as I've only just now been able to play the game without constantly hitting the unplayable card bug (I bought the first version). On that subject, thank you for the latest update, I've had 2 or 3 very enjoyable full games today. I have hit at least one new bug but it wasn't a game breaker. After I killed a monster the graveyard got messed up and the graphic from the top card in the graveyard (it was the alchemical tinctures) moved to my investigator and replaced his portrait - so I had the picture of 3 bottles with his stats and upgrades overlaid. Then his stats kept disappearing so I had to keep opening his card to bring them back. http://img191.imageshack.us/i/imageha.jpg/ Anyway enjoying playing the game and looking forward to the updates. cheers!
Update The update is out -- along with my other current favorite, Dungeon Raid. Two awesome updates in one night.
This is great, definitely a wonderful way to reward customers and supporters. I will be getting the HD upgrade for sure.
Well, make sure you put the notices clear on the update so when people update, they will know about the HD offer. Of course for those who don't even bother to update from time-to-time, can't help....
Ok I have been playing for a few hours. The new build does not crash at all!!!! At least so far! Finally I can say I am having fun. Looking forward to test the HD if possible and upgrade to it (as long as it costs no more than the game for iphone). I find the dev really doing their best to take care of their us, players! Cheers.
Out of curiosity I fired this up again to check the crashes after new update. First game i got to 85 cards before it autosaved. Why not just add a save feature? Id be saving after every turn. How often does it autosave? This is like a bandage for the crashing, not an ideal fix. The real horror in this game is the stressful anticipation of when exactly it's going to crash. Come on! This isn't an rts with 100 units running around. The only thing moving is the card being flipped over and this is too much for it? After reload of autosave, it crashed a few cards later. Tried another game and got to 50 cards left before it crashed again. I will not try again. This is pretty embarressing. First edition, okay, but after update and it's just as bad?
@Shatner How do you "fire it up to check for crashes again" when in your previous post you mentioned you've gotten a refund from apple? Does apple allow you to keep the app even after refunds??
Of course you keep it. Why you would want to i don't know. It's just a shame everyone is losing focus with the distractions of hd bells and whistles when they really should concentrate on fixing the game first. This update hasnt improved a thing. An autosave at 85 cards and a crash five cards or ten cards later is a useless feature. If it saved the game at time of crash, you'd have something. I might even pay extra for that feature! My despair rating just went up by 3.
few advices: - from player-view: if you're playing on older device - don't scale up cards - 5% of crash posibility (you may research all cards in separate session, and play with small sizes of cards); re-start game for new play instead run few games in one session. I don't advice to play in this way, I notice how better to play to prevent memory issue. - yes, its not a game with 100 units, its type of cards games, which has more art stuff then 100-units game, because every card is a new image, not 100 units clones, so its impossible to preload all data before game starts. - noone knows that the engine that we were using got failed and closing down now (you can google big news about falling down one of largest game-dev tech), and current version of the engine has big problems with memory leaks, which impossible to fix for logic/game-programmer, as far core of engine is a work of tens/hundreds people. - now we're porting the game to another engine (3d), but it will take a while, but for sure we will get game working in way that you'll forget word "crash". - so just be with us, and you'll see that Necronomicon will be first LoveCraft game on appstore and best cards/board game. Art is best, and new cards will be provided, multiplayer will appear, know one will do better ; ) just stay in touch and look for news, no one stopped and we're moving every day. I promised to fix the logic things in the game that we were discussing before update on the forum? - I did. Now I promise HD version in nearest few weeks, then port to new game engine to provide 100% stability, then adding multiplayer.
