Im pretty sad this is another payed soft launch. Actually, i just want to buy it and immerse myself it its awesomeness. Release it already.
The PC version was one of the best adventure games I've played. I hate soft launches though. I guess the upside is that my short attention span saves me from impulse purchases; by the time this is available here I'll either not want to play it anymore or I'll have started another playthrough on PC.
Well the bonus for us is that if there are any issues with the game they can get them ironed out. It can really kill an apps momentum when it launches with bugs.
"The Longest Journey is coming to iOS in a remastered edition "very soon" according to the developer. "We're using Australia and New Zealand as test markets for an initial release," Funcom said in a statement to PocketGamer. "And if all goes well we hope to release it in more markets very soon."" http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-10-28-the-longest-journey-remastered-is-coming-to-ios-very-soon?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialoomph
How could they even think that stretching the game to widescreen will be ok in any way? If they couldn't do the proper widescreen support then they shouldn't do it at all in the first place. The aspect ratio is ruined and it looks really ugly and insanely stretched in the gameplay video. And I was really excited about this game on mobile...
Well, it depends. There are people that won't even notice that until you show pictures in comparison. But it really bugs me. I could live with black bars on the right/left sides of the screen (they even could put inventory there), but others just want the fullscreen experience, no matter how disfigured it will look. Example of what I'm saying: Larger version link: Original game screenshots from GOG.com on the left side, screenshots from this gameplay video on the right. April now looks like Lara Croft from behind. At least the cutscenes aren't stretched there.. UPD: sorry about the broken URL's, I think I should have about 20 posts for it to work, but I don't like to post until I have something to say. I absolutely loved this game on PC and I'll DEFINITELY be buying this in the next few minutes.this is a masterpiece in gaming.
One of my favorite adventure games of all time. So refreshing to follow a story that can actually surprise you. Twist and turns abound. Clever puzzles and well acted dialogue. So good.
Ok, I have been in the gaming scene since the mid 70s. I have NEVER heard of this game. So, all the hype - but is it a really good adventure game? And in what sense? Like the Sierra quest games? Like Monkey Islands? Purely point and click? Or are there other mechanics going on? Puzzles involved, multiple locations? In other words, is the game as impressive as all the advertising hype?
It's all about the story. It's like a magical scifi Narnia adult fairy tale. But the game also has a reputation for some stupidly hard/unclear puzzles. Apparently this remastered version adds hints which should help that problem.
