DotEmu Well-Known Member Nov 8, 2010 66 0 0 Paris, France http://www.dotemu.com #5 DotEmu, Sep 26, 2012 Hello all, The game on PC was splitted on 3 CDRoms, for a total size of 1.5 Gbyte. Five different versions exists (localization) : English, French, German, Spanish, Italian. We managed to rework most of the assets and recompress PC data (1.5Gb*5 = 7.5 Gbyte) into 1.25 Gb, so that's not too bad The iOS version includes all five languages in a single build so far because managing 5 different builds would be too much complicated from a publishing point of view. We are aware that's a big game, and might consider making an English-only build (in addition to the EFIGS one), depending on community feedback. That would still be around 800 Megabytes. Feel free to post into this thread. Mr-Fox Active Member Feb 12, 2012 27 0 0 #6 Mr-Fox, Sep 26, 2012 Excellent! Definitely going to buy this one when out in Europe. Good job DotEmu, your ports are spot on! Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #7 Pitta, Sep 26, 2012 AT LAST!!!! My favorite adventure games of all time, will buy it as soon as it lands on my AppStore. I'm glad you have all the localization in one app, always played the USA version (I still have the original version) and never played the much later published italian one; nice to have the opportunity to try both. Does the game game support iCloud saving to switch between devices? Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #8 Pitta, Sep 26, 2012 Game was multiple CDs back in the days and there are TONS of dialogues (everything is spoken), not mentioning a full orchestra almost complete show INSIDE the game. I just hope they didn't cut anything, including the graphics. Rokrdude Well-Known Member May 14, 2011 1,286 0 36 #9 Rokrdude, Sep 26, 2012 Glad I had spent extra bucks and got the 64 gb version Anyways good start to this week with this, Fifa and Zenforms. Last week promised so much but most of the big budget games had terrible iaps (talking about Demon score and street fighter) DotEmu Well-Known Member Nov 8, 2010 66 0 0 Paris, France http://www.dotemu.com #10 DotEmu, Sep 26, 2012 We did not cut anything, and that's why the game is huge, even with modern compression methods we used to achieve the result. @Pitta, no we did not include iCloud saving support in this build, maybe in a future update. Janni Well-Known Member Aug 10, 2012 284 0 0 #11 Janni, Sep 26, 2012 i'm sure you did your best on repacking the given content... it's just hard to free such an amount of space on a already crammed device (if IB-dungeons pops up this week i'm pretty much doomed) in general, i just wish (file)-size should/would matter a little bit more... Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #12 Pitta, Sep 26, 2012 Ok thanks! I support your decision of not cutting anything!!! Can't really wait to get it...I'm actively trying to forget anything about the game...but it's hard...I play it every now and then (last time, last year). I already know tonight my wife won't be pleased.... I will probably play this on iPad (hoping it looks OK on the retina iPad...not sure if you had high res assets avaible)...but being Universal (another thing I really appreciate) iCloud would be nice just to check things on the go and in games so big the possibility to delete the app and then reinstall it later without loosing your progresses is invaluable. Anyway, thanks for the port, can't wait....I wish it was realeased already worldwive (I will never understand this progressive timeline thing). 40teeth Well-Known Member May 8, 2012 52 0 6 #13 40teeth, Sep 26, 2012 Never played the original but I like what I saw. The genre is just so lacking on the IOS. I have a question though: there seems be huge variance in hrs of gameplay (5-20 hrs) So is this something like 5 hrs a playthrough and 20+ for full 100% completion? Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #14 Pitta, Sep 26, 2012 Well...I think you can complete it (ie: see the ending) in 5 hours if you already know how to approach and surpass every checkpoint. I played the game many times and everytime I get lost in the game and its conversations....never been able to complete it in 5 hours. Honeslty, I never tried to do a speedrun...never saw the point. First time, if I recall well, took me a while....so proably around 15 hours is correct. DotEmu Well-Known Member Nov 8, 2010 66 0 0 Paris, France http://www.dotemu.com #15 DotEmu, Sep 26, 2012 The game has a lot of "hidden" / "not mandatory" actions to do, cutscenes, dialogues, so it highly depends of your way of playing it. If you never played the original, expect 10+ hours on it at the very least. Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #16 Gabrien, Sep 26, 2012 Is it safe to assume there's no IAP in this, at least? Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #19 Gabrien, Sep 26, 2012 Thank you. Both the game's title and graphics rang a faint bell, but I have never played it. Doing a little bit of research on it just now however, definitely made me feel I should have. Look forward to picking it up in a few hours, and thank you for bringing it to us intact and not marred by IAP. P.S. Do you happen to know if it's true that the game originally cost 6 million dollars to make? I do hope it didn't cost you that much to port it to iOS, in any case. Setting are halved too, so she can't change anything. Same with fast forward. Is it the same 'bug'? How can she resolve? (Already rebooted and such, she is not a newbie). Ill buy the game as soon as it hits the Italian AppStore, I've not doubt eventual bugs will be resolved...but if there is an easy way to resolve this as sanuku, I want her to play it (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
