since im bored out of my mind im going to share my opinion on a few characters athena is a piece of shit definitely best projectile spamming character not only does her fireball have no recovery, she has so many tools to deal with roll ins and jump ins people who play run away and projectile spam all day gets none of my respect, even if you win kula i find ok to deal with her moves are very easily countered if you time a roll right and get behind her to punish her DP needs slightly more recovery though some people complain that she can do huge combos without drive cancel if you actually look at the damage of kula's meterless combos it's really nothing too special (usually under 300 damage) vice i absolutely hate i have zero respect for vice players half screen grab move is spammable with little recovery, and it hits air status opponents too, meaning you still get caught in it even if you hop her forward dashing attack seems to counter everything, goes through normal attacks and can combo into super. IMO vice needs more recovery on everything All command grab characters are annoying, but nothing i cant deal with by jumping except mansbag's daimon that shit's crazy its like he knows what my next move is before i make it. counters me every single time props to mansbag for completely mastering daimon (if not the game altogether) i also dislike terry but im pretty sure thats just me being inexperienced against him. tl:dr vice athena need nerf what does everyone think? does anyone agree with me or am i just bad at this game lol
Monster Studios here in Nashville. Was doing some vocals on a song I've been recording. I completely agree with you on Athena. If she had more recovery on her fireball and SRK, she'd be a little more reasonable. But she has tools to deal with just about anything in the game. She can zone with fireball and SRK, and if someone's trying to spam projectiles, she can send them right back at them. I find that using a fast EX fireball with King or Robert helps win the fireball fights with her, but you tend to have to fake her out or she'll use the deflector and you'll eat your own projectiles. :X I think they talk about her being mid/low tier on Dream Cancel but I can't see that. She's a swiss army knife kind of character. Vice you have to play defensive. Zoning her out is the only way I've found to really deal with what she can do, but I've considered that maybe rushing her down could work too, but I haven't tested that as much so I'm not sure how effetive it would be. But playing 1/3 to 1/2 screen away is death because of her reach and her dash. Kula I don't really have much of an opinion on. She's good, but not amazing and there are ways to take her down. Her SRK is pretty punishable if you're ready for it, and like you said, her damage output is pretty low. Terry, same as Vice. He's almost best at 1/3 screen because of Crack Shoot and his normals have a bit of reach. Zone him or get up in his shit. Command grab characters like Clark and Daimon are some of the best in the game because they can combo into their command grab. And yeah, Mansbag's Daimon gives me fits! I remember when I could zone him really well with King, but he got better and that matchup got a lot scarier! xD They need to put that ish out there for $.99 for a week. Either that or put it up for $2.99 but include the DLC characters with it.
so someone i just played with asked me how i learned my shen combos i developed them myself in training thats how i can show you if you're willing to learn it's higher dmg than the ones in combo training
glad to see you finally found this forum i removed you as a friend and sent you a new request so you can see the message more clearly waiting for you to accept try exiting and restarting gamecenter if you're not getting a request
Yeah man post them here! I posted a few simple but damaging HD combos a few pages back. The more info we have in this thread the better!
ok so heres the most practical insta-win shen combo 100% with or without jump attack 1042 dmg (corner or close to corner to start) jump P cl.K f.K HD cl.K f.K d.S (d) df.S (d) f.S (d) df.S df.s (d) f.S (d) df.S d + gauge max cancel if the max cancel is not connecting try to wait for the opponent to fall a bit before you use neomax
time for a maxima 100% combo 1052 dmg cl.K HD cl.K df.P b.S (d) EX super max cancel bet you didnt think it was this easy maxima is ultra high damage character easily doing 1/3 of your health with no gauge not to mention his godly guard points he is weak against grapple characters however, command grabs goes through auto-guard that and all his moves are pretty slow
That's a good one! Man your Maxima was scary in that second match we played last night. No one really uses him much and he's got some decent moves and combos.
yes i don't think people realize the potential of maxima hes a great char when you're actually playing and not just spamming vapour cannon heres the video that inspired me to learn maxima http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7ENtKdRQnk amazing what guard points can do
I use maxima. He's alot of fun and really strong! Now because of type avenger I found out how awesome Shen is. Now I'm just looking for a third permanent character. Any suggestions? Also DoctaMario would you like to play??
I think they considered him among the low tiers on Dream Cancel but even the low tiers in this game are competitive so... Course they also said that about Athena which I completely disagree with. xD Got your game request last night but I was playing out. I may have some time tomorrow if you want to get in a few games. Where do you live? You're fine man. Good games! This one just takes a little while to get your bearings, that's all. It's a little less forgiving than say SF4 which means the learning curve is slightly higher, but anytime you want to play, hit me up. Im not as good as Type Avenger or Mansbag but a few things I can tell you that might help: 1. You've got a pretty solid team there and I think your first order (Duolon, Maxima, Shen) is the one you should go with. Duolon is generally best used on point, Shen at the end because while he's great without meter, he's positively dangerous with the meter you can stock over the course of the match. Maxima I don't know as much about, but you and Type oughta train together. He could show you some things. 2. Know exactly what each move your character has is capable of, especially the normals. Duo Lon alone has a lot of fantastic normals but I didn't feel like you took advantage of them all. Next time we play, maybe we could play some single character matches, which might help. Your Shen's great btw! 3. Try not to burn too much meter. Getting to the last round without meter means you're being outplayed and can really affect your ability to win the match even if you're ahead character-wise. Again, I'm not a super amazing player, I've only been playing a few months but these are things that helped me once I learned them.
