An interesting thing is several players independently came up with the same idea for a second round handicap, so we've had a while to think that one over. It's definitely got that big flaw.

I *really* like the idea of a qualifier for the Triple Twist, combined with a "one win" rule for a JDD series. That is an extremely elegant idea, Spork.

This sounds like a good idea, Spork.

I haven't had time yet to finish the full analysis for the TTT positions. I'll try and get that up no later than tomorrow evening.

Thanks again, everybody! These contests have been an absolutely awesome experience for us, and we really hope you've had a blast, too! :)

More Jamzu contests will be on the way!

    Cheers,
    ~Doug

So Doug, exactly how many people participated in the TTT?

Yes, the thing that is missing is that you guys are all getting extremely good at this!

It has gotten almost impossible for me to predict which positions will be the real stumpers for you all. Like with pos 1 in the TTT. I thought that would be very tough to spot, but 4 out of 6 players got it on their first guess! I really think that wouldn't have happened, even remotely, if we were running the same TTT positions back in February.

The fact that you're all just getting better and better makes this much harder for me. But even more fun! :D The final TTT battle between Khamous and Spork was awesome to watch.

Ugh.... looks like I had a decent shot at the TTT, what with being the first to nail the 3rd position and having 2 out of 3... Unfortunately, the my kids took precedence and I had to make a trek to see the Easter Bunny this afternoon, giving up my chance at a March Madness-style upset. I held out hope for the second chance drawing, and still come up short. I gotta say, I'm starting to feel pretty defeated... If my luck doesn't turn around soon, I might just have to bow out of future contests for sanity sake. Congrats to the winners!

BTW, what was the 2nd position? I think I had F8-B4 or something like that.... don't remember offhand....

    The answers were:

    1. E6-A6
    2. G2-C6
    3. H4-C7

And Kevd, don't give up! If you'd been on today you may well have snatched up that prize!

Why on earth do Spork and I always answer everything at the same time?
    lol...

And yes, don't give up, from what I've seen you're a really good player since the Champion Contest, just have problems with the time, exactly what Spork had, and now look at him :p.

    Hi Kevd!

Sorry you couldn't make it today. We missed you! Congrats on being the only one to nail position 3 in the first guess!

The correct move for position 2 is G2-C6.

We hope that everyone's sanity (including ours! :D) remains unshaken enough to play in future contests. We really try to make it fun for all, but it is ultimately just a game and a contest. :) We're also working out a "sideline rule" where winners are qualified to play in a showdown contest, but they have to sit out the remaining Daily Doubles for that series.

And to second both Spork and Khamous, don't give up! :) Without the time conflicts, you would likely have nailed more of these!

This is also a really good idea. Maybe not every day, but something more low key is fun, too.

    Possible Schedule for JDD 3

    Hi all,

We're thinking of a possible schedule of May 22-27 for the Jamzu Daily Double 3 series. For this series, each player can win once, but this win will qualify the player for the Triple Twist showdown and grand prize.

Feel free to get back to me either in the thread or by PM if you have any thoughts on the schedule.

The (long) analysis for the Thurday Triple Twist positions is included below. For full highlights of every event in the Jamzu Daily Double 2 series, check the Real Fun Art website!

Thanks again to everybody who entered this series! It was a total blast! :)

    Cheers,
    ~Doug

    -----------
Analysis for the Triple Twist Best Moves

    Position One

    Best Move: E6-A6

    - Unblocks Red and blocks Blue. (total block switch)
    - Fully opens lane 6 for Red for a maximum long move.
    - Stops Blue in lane 6 from scoring.

    Other Move:

    C3-E5
    - Partial block switch.
    - Unblocks runner that's furthest behind.
    - But doesn't open any lanes for Red.
    - Can do this kind of move against Blue in lane 5 later easily.

    Position Two

    Best Move: G2-C6

    - Total block switch.
    - Starts unblocking Red's most vulnerable runner.
    - Red can continue, in next moves while he controls lane 2, to attack Blue with the E2 and B2 jammers.
    - Stops blue from scoring in lane 6.

    Other Move:

    B5-H5
    - Opens Red for a max run in lane 5.
    - Blocks Blue in more tightly on the starting position in lane 5.
    - But leaves open Blue for a score in lane 6.
    - Also does not help Blue's most vulnerable runner at A2, which is quickly becoming trapped. If Blue further attacks Red in lane 2 with the I3 and I5 jammers, Red could be in very serious early trouble here. B5-H5 is a strong move, but G2-C6 is overall better right now.

    Position Three

    Best Move: H4-C7

    - Total block switch.
    - Opens Red in lane 4 for the longest possible run and even a score.
    - Red's runner in lane 4 is also most vulnerable to a counterattack by Blue from the D7 jammer, so giving him a chance to escape now is best.
    - Clears the H4 jammer as far away from Red's runners as possible. Blue can't easily flip the jammer back again to attack Red.

    Other Moves:

    H4-G3
    - Total block switch, also opens lane 4.
    - But leaves jammer on G3 in place to harass Red on lanes 2, 4, 6 or 7.
    - Makes it harder to clear H2 jammer out of the way in lane 2. Red could use H2 to attack Blue in lanes 3 or 7, but only if G3 is clear.

    H4-C3
    - Very similar to, and probably equal to H4-C7. Possibly slightly better.

    H2-G3
    - Total block switch.
    - But doesn't open runner in lane 4 for escape and max possible run.
    - Jammer on G3 can be used against Red again in lanes 4, 6 or 7.
    - Better to do H4-C7 or H4-C3 first, and then this if you have the chance.

    H2-C3
    - Total block switch.
    - Probably even better than H2-G3 in that is gets the jammer further away from harassing Red.
    - But doesn't open runner in lane 4 for escape and max possible run.

Hopefully Khamous, haffertee and Spork all have plans at 8:30pm so I have a chance. ;)
