Grats Spork Although I don't really agree for that being the best move in board 1, will wait for explanation
Position One Best Move: C6-A2 - Unblocks Red and Blue and blocks blue. (partial block switch) - Helps unblock Red's vulnerable runner in lane 6. - Takes control of lane 6, allowing another potential move where Red could both free himself while counter-attacking Blue in lane 3. - Keeps Red ahead in the block count, 4-2. Analysis of both soon!
Moving C6 instead of B6 actually helps blue more, even if it blocks it in another lane, if you free red on 6 in that order you're actually letting blue score in that lane before you even try it, as you next free move would allow blue to score with a 4, losing advantage in the race, or even a 2, if blue is lucky enough to get a 2 in the next move. Then, blue can use jammer in C2 to totally counter block that run, or even Jammer in A3... Not against Spork here, but I really think cathy has the best moves Forgot to mention why B6-D6 is good: Gives red a breathing space in its weakest position, pretty much B6 needs to be out of there before C6 does in order for red to be able to defend anything in that lane and it needs to happen fast because blue in lane 3 has a free 6, and after that is pretty much crying over spilled milk.
No way! Sorry Khamous, but C6-A2 for Red here is absolutely the best. Red *needs* to get out! And this kind of move is his best shot at doing it well. The gains from B6-D6 are really nothing. Blue is going to score here regardless. Red has to take max advantage of what this roll offers. The race is close now, but increasing Red's advantage in blocks right now (4-2) is very powerful, and almost certainly assures Red the best chance at the win.
Aww, Man! Why did I think it was 2:30??? And I had the right moves, too! Oh Well. Maybe tomorrow. Congrats, again, Spork.
------ Red has a great chance to use B6 with B6-C3 soon. *Much* better to save B6 for this shot later, and do C6-A2 now.
Still, C6-A2 is a move that can be done in another turn, while B6-D6 cannot, that move, at least for me, pretty much is sacrificing the lane, a real open lane without any advantage as those blocks, once blue has scored there, can all be reversed to 6. Only chance red has with doing that is that blue doesnt score and/or getting a very high number. I'm putting a high value at the capability of a jump here, and the capability to jam blue on 6, as moving c6, for me, is freeing blue to trap blue. But oh well, be back in an hour, gotta get home now
Haha, no. I'm out with the girlfriend's family and I needed an excuse so I could go and get on the forums on my phone for 5 minutes. I'm still out so I can't really defend my moves personally, so I'll let Doug do it for me.
Thanks. I was bummed to get to my comp. at 2:25 and see I had the time wrong. I'll get it right tomorrow.
Sure you could. If Blue gets any roll but a 1 or 2, you could do B6-D6 on your next move (if you got another 4). But really, the point here is that it really doesn't matter at all if you're letting Blue off or ahead in lane 6 now. As long as Red continues to move jammers out of lane 6, he controls the lane, opening his escape route, and preventing Blue from doing harm here.
LOL! That kind of bathroom break! No need to defend your moves. They are clearly the best. Cheers, ~Doug
Hi players! Congrats to Spork for his second win, under very tricky circumstances this time, in the JDD 2! And congrats to cathy for being the first with I7-E5 in position two! Here's the full analysis for today's best moves: Position One Best Move: C6-A2 - Unblocks Red and Blue and blocks blue. (partial block switch) - Helps unblock Red's vulnerable runner in lane 6. - Takes control of lane 6, allowing another potential move where Red could both free himself while counter-attacking Blue in lane 3. - Keeps Red ahead in the block count, 4-2. - The Blue runner on E6 is a good as gone. Blue weaknesses are his lane 2 and 3 runners. Red's C6-A2 attacks those weaknesses while simultaneously improving both his position and advantages. Other Moves: B6-D6 - This does give Red control of lane 6, and stops Blue from moving to D6. - But does nothing to ultimately help Red get free. - Red is going to have to get the B6 and C6 jammers out of the way. Moving B6-D6 like this does not really get Red anywhere, and wastes a valuable tempo. - Red needs to get out of his trap in the way that maintains or improves his advantages. C6-A2 both helps Red free himself, and increases his advantage in blocks. Position Two Best Move: I7-E5 - Unblocks Red and blocks Blue. (total block switch) - Blocks Blue in his wide open lane 5. - Opens Red in lane 7 for a move off. Other Moves: F2 - Does get a runner off - But not necessary now. F2 is in no danger of being blocked, and can move forward later. E6-A6 - Partial block switch. - Not good timing for this move. - With this move, Blue now has a good shot at jumping Red in lane 6
Hi JDD players! We'll be starting at 2pm sharp today for the Daily Double! ----------------------- Triple Twist Announcement: I will starting the PM process at 2:30, where each player will get the results from their first move list. It takes a bit of time, because there has to be a minute between each PM, but I'll try and make it go as quickly as possible. The first players who submitted moves will be the first to get results, in order. Then at 3pm I will post a GO! in the thread. This is when you can start your open round guesses, all by PM. Please always wait to get results back from me, by PM, before submitting additional guesses! I'll post all this again after today's JDD is done! Cheers, ~Doug
