It makes the blocker at G4 moveable in such a way that it won't be in front of the red pieces at G2 and F3 (which will be G3). It removes the danger of becoming more blocked by the blocker at H8
I don't understand why F3 is a better option than G6. if you close that gap in front of G6, that keeps blue from squeezing another jammer in front of the red player. It also almost guarantees that you can clear the jammer at I6 on your next move. If you leave G6 alone and move F3, then there are three potential jammers that you can get in front of G6 with a roll of 2, 5, or 6 on the next roll.
