Do you see functions for this that would be unique? Jobs has a grand concept in mind. I just can't see it right now.
I want one, too. I like the fact that even with 3G you are not locked into a data plan contract--you can cancel anytime. The tablet prices are pretty reasonable too. I've been waiting for a reason to upgrade from my 1st gen Touch, and this sounds like it could be it! As far as people on this forum thinking you (and me ) are morons, you have to remember that the tablet will appeal to a different demographic than people who just want a small portable device that plays games and music.
Id agree, like the poor college student who hates their shitty overheating laptop and only needs to type and browse the net. And likes the games
when the iphone came out i didnt see the need for it and i dont see the need for this but im sure after 6 months of it being out it will click how i could use this why i need it when i have a iphone and a imac already apple is good at that
Let me know when my iPad is arriving, I'll send you my address so you can ship it to me. Thanks! I didn't think it would be you, either.
In my honest opinion, iPod is not s innovate as iphone or iPod touch was. It is dedicated to limited group of customers, who expect proffesional web-surfing, mailing and etc. Apple will but it in it's portfolio, as an offer called "Tablet": Apple's Portfolio: Computer: iMac Laptop: MacBook Phone: iPhone Portable player: iPod touch Tablet: iPad
The data plan was, IMHO, the best part of the presentation. I'm pretty sure that there are iPhone owners who wish they could use that plan. Except for two things: 1. That small portable device doesn't only play games and music. It's already a viable e-book reader (check the number of those who have downloaded the Kindle app, and, before that, Stanza, and, before that, the individual e-books). You can already watch movies and shows on it. There are already productivity and creative software apps. This tablet seems like an extension of something that already exists rather than its "own thing". 2. That "different demographic" is most likely a very niche consumer, so this most likely will not sell as well as Apple would like. I could find myself using it on shoots, sure...but lack of multitasking is gonna be a problem. Lack of "power" is gonna be another one. Again, not a "bad" device, but not "revolutionary" or "magical", and most likely won't set the world aflame. Except that poor college student could do much of that on their iPhone/iPod touch right now. The difference is that this will have a bigger screen, but I don't know if that difference is worth the cost for the majority of users out there.
Hell no, this thing is an oversized version of the iPod Touch! Tell me whats different about the iPad and the iPhone and iPod Touch? Don't tell me that it has better hardware! We all know it does!
check page 2, I said the next person to respond after me is buying me an iPad, guess you should have read the fine print.
Here's a good write up on the iPad Touch...I mean iPad. http://www.pcworld.com/article/187868/apples_ipad_plays_games_surprise.html/ In general, it's everything you'd hope for...that you actually get in an iPhone or Touch. The battery life will be an issue since it can be as little as 3 hours if you're running a graphics-heavy game. I think the article, while positive, makes it clear that this is just another gaming device...except with a bigger screen and nothing super different.
I'll wait to see what a 2nd and 3rd generation will bring it. It's good to see a solid competitor to the kindle and some netbooks though. I don't like the pricing point, but it's cheaper than I expected. I'm still suffering with a first gen ipod touch. -John
This is the problem with forums that have a lot of techies posting on them. If the geek crystal ball was at all accurate, the iPod would have failed because it doesn't support ogg vorbis.
