My Iphone 3G costs £35 a month for 1200 mins free throughout the world and 500 free texts throughout the world including MMS. Also you get unlimited 3G with that and the handset was free.

The Ipad is £15 a month for 3GB of 3G which like you all know is nothing if you actually use it. I mean on my home internet I go through about 500GB and month and on my Iphone I go through about 30GB a month. So 3GB on the Ipad which is meant to be built for internet browsing and all that....... **** offf!

Just get a Laptop and get one of them USB sticks to access the internet from whoever you're with on the home broadband. It's cheaper and you get unlimited.

Here are the plans for the Ipad lol...

    500MB + unlimited Wi-Fi £2 a day
    1GB + unlimited Wi-Fi £10 a month (30 days), recurring
    3GB + unlimited Wi-Fi £15 a month (30 days), recurring

YEah I should hope Wi-Fi is unlimited rofl, what a scam. Just get an Iphone it does more and atleast you get unlimited 3G plus everything else for phoning people and international calls.

And the fact that here in the UK 3G doesn't work in most places unless it's a major town or city. Frigging like my Town doesn't get hardly any 3G signal and you can't use it most of the time. Also you have to pay for the Ipad which is £700 for the 3G 64 model and £600 for the 32GB model. So the Higher priced model is basically $1000 and the 32GB is $850.

Where as the Iphone is free of charge with the £35 a month option under the same company.

So I really can't see it selling well when people can just get an Iphone a laptop or another Phone that surfs the net that is much cheaper than the Iphone. I mean most people I know can't afford one cause other companies are making better phones than the Iphone for half the price, plus they have a better cam and a flash and flash support for the internet lol.

Apple need to find a way to lower prices or they die really. Their hardware is out of date compared to the competition, there is no incentive to own an Ipad when it is so expensive and you can get a Laptop with better specs for £350 and it runs Windows so you can do things with it.

+ On another note... man has the £ gotten so weak since the new government come in and yet taxes are being raised. So basically that means everything will be going up in price and yet we have to pay more to live....... shoulda voted Labour.

The fact that you don't have to buy a contract makes it exclusive enough IMO. It's a major bartering point, but with rates like those... ugh.

Unrelated question: If you get a 3G ipad but you don't get the unlimited plan, when you are in a wifi hotspot is there a way to turn off the 3G so that it doesn't use up the 3G and only uses the wifi as a source of connection?

Pretty sure if you have connection to WiFi, it does that automatically.

But what if your wifi isn't that great and you want to make sure it doesn't switch in the middle to using up the 3G? Is there any way to actually tell the iPad specifically to stay off 3G for that time and only use the wifi? Or does it at least give you a notification when it switches to using the 3G?

I remember something about saying Unis have banned Iphones and Ipads on Wifi because of the way they connect is a security risk.

You can select whether you want to use 3G or wifi ( or nothing at all!) in the "settings." It doesn't automatically connect as long as you have the 3G or wifi turned off. You can pick which way to connect. It won't automatically switch from wifi to 3G if the 3G is turned off, even if the wifi is weak. And if you have the 3G data plan, you can use the at&t wifi hotspots for free and save the 3G for when you really need it.

Its quite foolish to get a 3g ipad if you already have a 3g plan u can tether with on your phone.

In the Settings, you can turn off 3G.

These reports have been largely discounted. There were some problems with iPads not releasing DHCP addresses properly and continually pulling new DHCPs, but that was limited to a few iPads.

The biggest issue is that the powersaving functions seem to turn off the wifi without any warning.
