Have you been able to successfully create a backup manually? Alternatively, have you been able to sync? If your device is current and synced then there still shouldn't be any problem continuing without a backup, since you technically already have one.
Okay right now it's installing all my apps from the backup. Will all my save files be lost? I don't remember backups showing what app it was installing before.
Backups do indeed save your game progress and other settings. I noticed yesterday that my backup even saved the last number I had in my Calculator app.
Oh thank god. Thanks for the assurance. Unfortunately I had something check marked about manually putting on all my music. So I'll have to find all my damn albums and put them all back on >=O
oh- there is one thing that backups don't save...which is, strangely, your Lock password. a restored iPod doesn't have a lock. It does, however, keep your facebook and email logins and cookies.
... What the hell? A hell of a lot of apps are missing now, including fruit ninja. And no apps will open either, and yes I tried more than three times. I think I restored a backup that partially finished or something. Because the apps missing are pretty random.
On the topic of iOS4, we are aware that there are some issues with our titles (namely Deer Hunter 3D) after updating the iPhone's OS. We're in the process of working on updates for all of our games to include iOS4 support.
Could you tell us what happens currently when you try to open Deer Hunter? I'd like to know if my problem is a case of iOS 4, or an incomplete backup.
Are the apps missing from your library or just from your device after restoring? If they are missing from your library, you can always find it on the store again and redownload for free (although it is a pain in the butt).
My device couldn't even restore from a backup I guess that's what happens when you jailbreak. I went from JB 3.1.3 to a legit iOS4. The only game I kinda noticed where it didn't work was CoD Zombies, and I think they pulled it, at least where I am.
Is it just me, or do a lot of apps that looked fine on the OS 3.0 look jaggy and scaled wrong on the iOS4? I've noticed it from playing Spirit and Angry Birds so far.
Is there a way to completely quit an app so that it won't appear in your multitasking? The ony way I have figured out is to press the home button while in the app and then manually open up multitasking and hold the app until is starts wiggling so I can delete it. That way is such a hastle though.
I think that's the only way to be honest. Sometimes, when I hold to make them wiggle, and press the minus sign, it doesn't respond. I guess nothing is ever going to work perfectly hey.
Also keep in mind that iOS 4 will automatically kill the oldest task(s) if another app requests more memory than is currently available, so it's not entirely necessary to kill tasks manually unless you prefer having complete control over task management.
Well, you could jailbreak with redsn0w [not sure if its compatible with 3G Touch] and then search Cydia for Remove Recents. That app makes it so that only apps that support multitasking stay in your multitasking bar after you quit out.
If you try to launch it, you get a brief black screen and then you're taken back to your apps screen. (It won't launch)
I think i've figured out the battery leak issue. It has something to do with memory and crashed programs. If I just turn on my iPod and leave it asleep with the wifi off, the battery doesn't drop any. If I open an app, though, and that app crashes, it will start draining the battery. It must not close completely or something when it crashes. The only way to really fix this is to just power off and power on again.
So I had a jb'ed 2nd gen ipod touch and when I tried to upgrade to ios4.0 it backed up my ipod then said it had an error when restoring it. Now my ipod shows the connect to itunes screen and I can't get it out of that even by putting it in DFU mode. Is my ipod completely screwed?
