Man, I wish I could get an early version of this game. It just looks so damn good.

It's time for another Hunted Character update! Today we're taking a look at The Ranger. Meet The Ranger

The Ranger is almost an assassin type character who moves very quickly and can pile on the damage.

On the release date front I'm extremely happy to announce that The Hunted has passed Apple's review and will be launching for iPhone and iPad this Thursday, Nov 20th!

We're also going to unlock all of the characters for the first 24 hours so if you grab the game at launch you'll be able to try every character for yourself and see which ones best suit how you play.

I hope you like the Ranger update, our next one is going to be for my overall favorite hunter, The Lurker! I may even be able to get that one out later this afternoon since we're running out of days at this point.

Can you please explain "unlock all of the characters for the first 24 hours". Does this mean that after 24h they get locked again, or they are fully unlocked for early adopters? What's the price of the game? (Sorry if it's already posted in the thread, I'll read it now to check...) Thanks. EDIT: so I've read it's free + character IAP. How much for each character? How many characters in total? Is there an "unlock all characters" IAP? The game looks VERY cool indeed.

No problem, I should have been more clear but I was excited to get that post up.

The game is free to download, we wanted the largest number of players possible to be able to try out the game. In the game we have nine hunters that you can play as. One of them, the Human Hunter, is always unlocked for you to play as but the other eight are IAP ( $1.99 each ).

However, each week we will have one or two Hunters that are 'unlocked' for everyone to play as so that if you don't want to spend any money you can still play as new characters or so that you can try out a new character and decide that you want to play as them all the time.

So, to your original question, for the first 24 hours we're going to unlock all the characters and let you play as any of them. After that you'll be able to play as the Human Hunter or the currently free player without paying anything or you can purchase one of the other characters and be able to play as them whenever you want.

You can choose to unlock all the characters if you want and you'll get a discount for doing it that way. One thing we've done is to base the unlock all price on the number of characters that you have already bought. So even if you just buy one or two characters at first you can decide to unlock them all later and still get the unlock all discount.

We also have one iAD banner in the lobby screen that you'll see in-between matches. That is mainly there just to help cover server costs but maybe we'll get 50 million downloads and start making Flappy Bird money some day :)

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sounds perfectly fine. I'll be an early adopter to see which one suits me best. Have you thought about adding an IAP to remove the ads?

We haven't implemented that but we definitely could. I'll put it on the update list.

    Thanks!

Quick n' Random Question: An Internet connection is required to play or does it have any sort of offline function? (I'm going in a trip and I don't think that I'd have any way to play online)

It does require a connection, we planned out an offline mode but left it out for now so we could focus on the multiplayer aspect.

You should be able to connect to a game over a cellular connection and play without any trouble but you'll need a wifi connection if you want to start your own game. In testing we found that lag could be a problem when people were starting games over a cell connection.

Hopefully you'll be able to play on your trip, if not we'll see you when you get back!

    Meet The Lurker

One more character update for today, Meet the Lurker!

The Lurker is my favorite Hunter of the bunch, mainly because he's a freaking Landshark! He can burrow underground, chase down his enemies, and then explode up from the ground to take a bite out of them. What's not to love!

Check out the blog post for more info on him and more action shots.

Let me know what you think.

Definitely looking forward to this. I think including an IAP to remove the ad(s) would make a lot folks happy and hopefully clock some dollars for this excellent-looking battler.

It's free, they're thinking about an IAP to remove ads, the game hasn't been released yet... Come on, give them a chance! ;)

I'd be one of the happy guys, and I'm sure others would feel the same.

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't gotten a character post up today, I've been really busy. To make up for it I'm working on a character post and a post about our game modes for tomorrow!

I'll definitely put an IAP to remove the ads in the first update. I know that ads really put some people off and other people don't seem to care but I'll try and make sure there is an option for either type of person to get the game the way they want it.

We're only a day away! Even sooner if you live outside the US. I'll be online playing off and on all day tomorrow and Thursday as 'F5 Rula', so come get some!

I really don't like the required internet connection, but love dual stick shooters so maybe I'll try it.

Is this game out in the NZ app store?!

It's processing for the App Store right now. iTunes screwed me up and added a new button that I had to press to make it actually appear in the store.

Alright, I've got it all straightened out now. The Hunted is available in NZ and several other countries in eastern Asia!

I've also made a thread on the main iPhone and iPad forums so we should probably move this discussion over there: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=3407507

I've still got a couple updates that I'll post over there today and I've also included the launch trailer ( with non-dubstep music ) if you want to check it out.

Thanks for being interested in our game. I hope to see you all in there soon.
