Haha, I'm serious. Donate again and PM me with proof of both and I'll let you "borrow" my link to the first set. I know the first deal is supposed to be over but I'm sure the devs wouldn't object considering it's (partly) for charity.
Yeah I'm definitely gonna do that I don't support piracy when it comes to games, but to help the children? Yeah the developers can take this one on the chin. They supported the cause themselves so they're hardly gonna lose sleep over one more person throwing some change into the charity tin.
They wont be able to write off the charitable expense because it is not an authorized transaction *it is copyright infringement. If you don't think they will mind, maybe you should ask the developers. Like it or not, you aren't supporting piracy you are engaging in piracy.
How long will this thing last? I'm really low on cash at the moment but am happy to pay when I get in some money. If it's gonna go away soon I'll grab it for a buck and donate more later.
The bundle will be available for another 3 days and 20 hours. You can check the remaining time at http://www.humblebundle.com. A buck is definitively better than no buck!
What expense are they writing off? Nothing. No transaction has been made their end and none has been made this end. Nothing changes on the expenses form. It's a gray area at best and I judge piracy on morals, not technicalities. If I could steal a cookie from your house to feed a starving homeless guy, I'd do it. It's illegal but it's not necessarily a bad thing to do. If you like I'll email the devs and tell them (not request) that I'm doing it (even though sid hasn't taken me up on the offer yet). Then we'll see if I get a response.
Considering the contact I've had with the Wolfire guys over the years, I am fairly sure they will either applaud you, or e-mail sid187 a link to the first bundle themselves, once he has purchased the second twice.
Well exactly. It's not like I've just picked a random game and sold it to someone. These guys were making a conscious attempt to raise a load of money for a good cause and I'm merely introducing a late addition. In just about any other situation I wouldn't even dream of such a move, I'm fairly big on developer support. ...but y'know these forum types, any chance to saddle on up and they'll jump on it.
All I am saying is that you should afford the developers the courtesy to make that decision for themselves regarding their own intellectual properties. They just might agree to it but show some respect. I would feel better about that; would you?
I can't find an email address for the Penumbra devs... they've got a forum but it's probably not the best place to bring this sorta thing up.
News Flash If you bought the bundle this year, you just got last year's bundle added to your downloads for free. http://www.humblebundle.com/bundle-in-bundle
That practically neutralizes the argument. Still haven't got a reply from any of the devs, save for a few automated ones telling me they're drowning in emails.
I got an email from Eric at Wolfire Games. Very brief, he basically just says "Very interesting debate there. It can definitely go either way."
