Well obviously nobody can ever know for sure, but Tupac was one of the most poetic rappers of all time (Dear Mama, Ghetto Gospel) and these songs are songs that Wayne would never even attempt to do because he is not a good enough lyricist to pull off writing a such a meaningful song and have it actually be any good. Not to mention that Tupac drew such a diverse crowd and inspired so many people that if he was alive to see that the next generation of hip hop turned out to be Wayne's "pop bottles" and "money on my mind" I think he'd be pretty disappointed, especially since he talked about giving and loving.
Guess we have to agree to disagree folks! Lol it looks like there's roughly equal numbers on both sides here. I'm somewhere in the middle; I appreciate Wayne and Drake for the artists they are. Between the two of them, they each have at least one indispensable album, and I love an artist that can craft a proper record. Not every hip-hop artist has to be the greatest rapper alive. Who gives a damn what 2pac would think? That was the 90's; this is now.
Well Dr. Dre really likes these two so its not unlikely that thse two may share similar opinions. And whoever said that all of Wayne's albums are based on features really need to go back to the Carter II to hear Wayne at what I think is his finest(although Fire Flame and F*** You sound like he's getting back to that style).
Lil wayne is the reason I bought an iPod...now I don't have to hear his garbage excuse for music on the radio. Lil Wayne is a huge embarrassment to the music industry. Go listen to some immortal technique kids.
Dre is old, but he's not really the same as Biggie or Tupac. In fact I think he tries to write songs like he used to, but then they become so synthesized and taken over by his label and he just can't do shit about it. It's a good thing Wu Tang and Nas(for the most part) still put out good shit though. Hell yes. Goddamn I wish his new album would come out already.
Wayne and the rest of his label are all feature based artists. I don't see how you could dispute that when all they do is feature each other. Do you honestly think Wayne has the brain power or soul to write something like this? All he can do is scream "weezy" in an autotuned voice and talk about his money. He's unoriginal and pretty boring honestly.
The hell's going on here lol? I have this song stuck in my head right now. Dude knows how to ride those awesome beats. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZv6RJkmvU8
wow didn't realize there was a thread about this. but i have to say my beautiful dark twisted fantasy is one of the best albums i have ever bought o and regarding the discusiion in the previous pages, i would have to say wayne blows. compared to real rappers such as eminem they don't stand a chance.
I just saw this thread...a few things -Kayne's new album is hot...one of the best of the year -I've heard a little of the new Lloyd Banks album...should be pretty good I think -Kid Cudi...meh...didn't he recently say he was done with hip hop anyways and was going onto the whole psuedo rock thing like Lil' Wayne did (and failed miserably at)? -Lil Wayne...I've always liked him...he's mainstream now so he's cool to hate on, but he was the one thing rapper that came out of the whole Cash Money New Orleans dirty south crap from the late 90's/early 2000's...dude can freestyle -Soulja Boy is trash...Waka Flocka Flame is trash (No Hands is catchy as hell though)
T.I's album is out. Other than 3 songs, it's great. Favorite songs are All She Wrote (ft. Eminem), Castle Walls (ft. Christina Aguilera) and Welcome to the World (ft. Kid Cudi and Kanye West). Really good stuff.
Haha "I don't even know how to rap". Priceless. And Ems freestyle was awesome. I don't care if you like eminem or not but you have to admit he can freestyle extremely well.
Which one? Despicable? That was epic. It could have passed as yet another great recovery track. Or are you talking about the latest Tim Westwood freestyle? That was also dope, and Em spitting over an Alchemist beat? awesome.
