Dude I'm not about to get into a fight with you about it but open your ears. He's not original. That's why every single one of his songs is auto tuned and focuses on money, sex or his greatness. That's why all his albums are feature based and he can't just do his own work. That's why it's 8 year old suburbian girls that listen to him and not true hip hop fans. He's pop, he's unoriginal, he's fake just like the rest of Young Money. Plus his voice is f*cking annoying and he can't do rock music to save his life. That whole label relies on each other to hype themselves up and a lot of people like you just buy into it instead of listening to something you can actually relate to that took more than just computers to produce.
The Young Money label as a whole is atrocious, made up of Lil Wayne with his whiny/dying horse rasp, Drake with his unchanging (and stolen) flow, Nicki Minaj with her bipolar disorder, and other irrelevant artists who nobody really cares about. Drake is the only listenable person in YM IMO, and I much prefer his R&B to his rapping.
Music is music. At the end of the day, it just comes down to preference. Some people like him, some people don't. If you don't like Lil Wayne, don't listen to his music. Simple, right? No one is forcing you to listen to his music, but you shouldn't be telling people that he's crap and that they should stop listening to him. If someone likes his music, let them be. There's no need for so much hate.
Fair enough. By all means, continue listening to what you like, but Lil Wayne is just one of those guys I get really annoyed by.
It is true that most of his songs are about money or sex, but what else is there to rap about? You make it sound like he is the only one. Most, if not all rappers, talk about money or their successes. He's completely original. I have yet to hear him steal anything from anyone else. And what's this you say about rock? We aren't talking about rock here, this the the Hip Hop thread. He has also sold plenty of albums on his own. You say I buy into the hype? How is Wayne original? He talks about pretty regular stuff for a rapper. He made a song called "Got Money", that is the cliche of unoriginal rapper. Also I am slightly disturbed you would describe Drake and Nick Minaj as great. They are as bad of a joke as Wanye himself.
You are just falling back to that because you can't dispute the facts. The entire young money label is trash. It is the crundle of the hip hop industry.

He has rapped about his life, and his childhood. None of those other things give him inspiration, so why would he rap about them? Ok, I'm done.
Those 7 were off the top of my head, there are millions of other things to rap about and the fact is that money and bitches sells, so thats what wayne talks about. It's a shame the industry has been so overtaken by money and labels. Oh and you made it sound like you know him personally by knowing what does and what does not inspire him.
I don't think Biggie would like him, but I think Tupac would be alright with him. And it's Drake, not Drank.
