The 1.1 update is currently "Waiting for Review" by Apple. I can't wait for you guys to get it. New stuff: - New scoring mechanism in addition to leveling, with its own leaderboard. It equates to this: - Hearts remaining x 10 x (num letters filled in), so if you had 3 hearts, guessed an E that was used in two places, that would be 3x10x2. - Graphical tweaks all over the UI. - The "category" or "hint" at the top is now prettier and more visible. - The difficulty scales more quickly now (along with increasing your hearts) to get you to the meat of the game faster, so it's not such a drag to start over when you die. - The old man's cutscene "tip" is no longer the same thing every time. He has a few different tips he'll say randomly. - About 10 typos fixed (which isn't bad in 10,000 puzzles) including Steven Tyler, Lima Peru, Adirondack Mountains (I mean, come on) and harder to find ones that blow up my spell checker like Ay Caramba! I asked multiple people, and we all spelled it "Aye Carumba", but that's apparently incorrect. I'll let you know when it's available in the store. Dave
1.1 was just released! It should be showing up in the app store within the next 24 hours. Thanks, Dave
I pray to the Lord of Light every day, and this is how he repays me. Sorry about that. It'll be fixed in the next version. Dave
Boom! If that high score (on both levels and score) doesn't last a little while, I give up. I was locked in. Literally felt like I could see the answers only a few letters in each time. Too much watching Wheel of Fortune as a little kid....
"Oh, hey look. A hangman game? I've always like hangman. Oh, it's RPG themed? That's cool, I think I might give it a tr... Oh wait! It's by the maker of Puzzlewood Quests?" *smashes the buy button*
I'm visiting at my parents' house today, and I just read your comment out loud to my dad, and he was just like, "Hmphh." I thought, well, okay, that was odd. I figured he'd muster a little more enthusiasm than that... A minute or so later he goes, "Wait. Did you mean 'BUY' like buying something? I thought he pushed the 'BYE' button after finding out you were involved." LOL. Thanks for the support, Dad. Dave
Lol! Too funny! Man, I've been addicted to this all evening. I love hangman games, but this one has hooked me like no other. I'm up to level 205 so far. Best dollar I've spent in a long time!
Ok, so I didn't die once and finished the game on my first play through. Like I said, I kind of have a thing for hangman... # I did encounter a couple of issues. The first was one of the answers. I got the words, but the overall answer seemed off. "Lovebirds conquers all talk no". The second issue was at the end. I read the final letter to mom, got the screen that says thy game is over, and then I got a pop up box that said "runtime error" followed by a bunch of script stuff. When I pressed ok, the game crashed. I took a screenshot, but I can never get pictures to post on TA from my phone, so I'll post that from my PC when I get a chance tomorrow. Other than that, it was flawless. Love this game! #
Holy crap, wizard Mike! I can see I'm going to have to add more levels for people like you. I'm not sure what's up with the runtime error but I will get it sorted and add more levels after the "end". Also that one solution is definitely a little off. Dave
I'll gladly pay for more levels! You could make an IAP expansion and I would buy it with no hesitation. OK, here is the screenshot of the runtime error, in case it's helpful:
Version 1.2 was just released! - Added more levels after the end of the story, for folks like Wizard_Mike. In fact, there's a treat for you, Wizard_Mike, if you make it that far again... - The difficulty levels out more quickly now. The main complaint I've had from players is that it's tedious to start over and play through 30 easy levels every time, so you'll notice it gets to the meat of the game much more quickly now. - Fixed the issue with the end of the game resulting in a runtime error. - Fixed a few more typos in the puzzle data. - Fixed an issue regarding the pause menu overlaying the puzzles if you pressed the Home button at a certain time during the game. Thanks, Dave
I just posted some more promo codes over here. I'm also trying an experiment. Not sure how long I'll keep up the experiment, but if you like the story part of Puzzlewood Quests or The Hangman's Noose, I've written some stuff here set in the same "universe": http://downcastsystems.com/on-the-road-to-puzzlewood/priorities/ Thanks, Dave
