The game can be beaten without IAP for sure. In my case, I bought the IAP to support the devs and unlock all the inventory slots soon, but someone here mentioned that there are a lot of crystals to be obtained through 1-time achievements, as well as missions which are always assigned. I think they said there are more than 100k crystal to be obtained this way.
I'm going ahead and getting this without reading much about....it's a dollar. However I don't agree with the art style being so close to another game. It's not a bad style tho.
Luck is a stat that effects what treasures you are likely to get. You can also enchant items and gold touch them. Upgrade items in town to improve the stats and bonuses. For example, I've only gone to level 29 (trying to finish the missions before going on) but I have for or five equipments with + experience, so when I go through he first 15 stages I can kill everything for about 20 exp each. You could find a few pieces of luck+ equipment and put them on. Hell, if you have one piece that is really high luck but sucks otherwise, put it on whenever you come across a fancy chest.
I'm checking for 100% of pots in a level. If they can come out of trash piles or chests, too, then that would be new for me. Do they? I feel like that would be useful, though I've not seen it happen personally. Even so, sometimes the game just really doesn't want me to have that cool item. /sadface Oh, I've got the enchanting and gold touch down. It's the luck stat that I've completely ignored to this point. Can you really just put on gear and open chests for better results, then remove it? That seems like a good strategy. I'll be on the lookout for a high luck piece, but I'm sure I'll get one on a run where no scroll show up.
I can't say for sure where they appear because I check everything, but I think I've seen them come out from chests too. With my current gear I get 1-hit kills until level 15-16, so I just go kill kill kill all around opening everything I see On a side note, don't improve objects on the workbenches with level 1 tuning objects when you already improved them in the village. I got a reduction from healing +14 to healing +5 on an object for doing this. I thought it would be incremental, but it isn't...
I think energy crystals are the premium currency blue crystals you purchase with real money or achieve through missions, achievements, etc.
Ah, then they're not those. Maybe it's an object you can combine with the armour to improve it, and from my experience it is possibly found in the latest levels you've gotten to. Check the Handbook in the menu to see if it's there.
Quite possibly because you've opened and closed the game many times without rebooting the phone. Close all apps from background and reset phone (press power & home button together until the Apple appears). That should do the trick (it does for me )
Thanks for the reply I always make sure to reboot everytime I play, but this time it doesn't help but I manage to solve it by reinstalling the game and download my save from icloud.
Regarding the dual currency, I've noticed that the further you progress in the game, the more you need crystals for. These are some examples of crystal-only things you purchase: - Inventory slots 3&4 require 1,000 and 3,000 crystals respectively. - Improving a weapon over level 3 requires crystals (50 to get from lvl3 to lvl4, 70 to get from lvl4 to lvl5, etc.). - Revival after dying in a battle costs 300 crystals. The game is very addictive and I've had my $11 worth of play time, but after enjoying it so much I've decided to buy The Enchanted Cave 2 and give that one a try. From my experience with this game and what I've read in that game's forum thread, I think the experience is going to be similar but without any IAP. We'll see if I enjoy that one as much as this one.
Might give it a try myself. I really, really love this game but it can be frustrating. I know it's a roguelike and it would actually be better without revives. But I was kind of annoyed when I was battling a boss and almost had it killed so bought a revive. I didn't have enough crystals so paid the $.99 again for more. Sadly, I didn't realize that when you revive, the boss starts back at full health as well. Got killed and flushed that $1 down the toilet for 30 seconds of gameplay. Not complaining about the game overall as I too have gotten my money's worth (I'm only up to $5 at this point). But it is getting a little disheartening to see the crystal requirements going up and up as you progress. I would have easily paid $10 or more for a full unlock where no secondary currency was available. But such is life in the App Store. This is so well made though that it's hard to put down. Now I know what people who are totally hooked on games like Candy Crush feel (in terms of wanting to spend and spend to get further). LOL.
Give The Enchanted Cave 2 a try, it's the same experience as this one, but with different graphics and no IAP, fully premium. I've just made a run into level 5 in that one and it feels soooo similar to this one... Or this one is such a copycat of the other that you can't imagine: you find secret rooms with stairs as in this one, notes of a previous explorer telling his experience in the cave, forging ovens as the forging tables of this one... It's such a similar experience I think I should have gone for that one in first place, since there's no IAP in that one :/
Yeah, I went back to read Shaun Musgrave's review of The Enchanted Cave 2 and just about thought I was reading a review of this game. This one clearly is more slick, but the lack of IAPs in The Enchanted Cave 2 is calling my name!
Can't kill Kraken. I get it to 50% HP. It rages. Tried hitting it a bunch, but died to rage spam. Tried NOT hitting it AT ALL, but died to rage spam. Tried tanking with constant heals, but it turned normal color again, and did not stop rage spamming anyway. Still died to rage spam. What's the catch?
