Granblue and many other Japanese Mobile Gaming incidents are covered. But what's fascinating besides shedding light on these issues, is that the Granblue incident has seemed to possibly sparked the Japanese Government to start moving on legislation to regulate the Mobile Gacha industry. Which could very well change Mobile Gacha gaming as we know it.

And a simple summary on the Granblue incident: Someone spent around 700,000y to get a special character(Anchilla) that's only available during the year of 2016 based off the Zodiac. It also turns out to be a case of misadvertising on Cygames behalf.
The real issue at hand quoted from reddit:

My brother has been playing Love Life for almost a year now and he's pretty good at it (playing expert songs and getting S ranks in many of them). For the most part, he simply enjoys mastering the event songs as a skill-based game. Still, getting a chance for a good gacha draw is the main hook to play more. He hasn't spent much after one small purchase and he got most of his Gems for the event rewards and song mastery. After getting some top-tier cards in batch gacha draws, he eventually played less after his more recent draw attempts having no good cards.

He's currently playing Fate Grand Order in the start of this year and I feel like it's like a repeat of Love Life. I hate gambling mechanics that prey on whales and this isn't limited to Japanese social games. Vietnamese developer JOY Entertainment's third-person-shooter Captain Strike has one of the worst predatory gambling mechanics ever included in a game--- its gun upgrade system. You can actually fail an upgrade attempt! Not only that, but when an upgrade attempt fails, you lose a lot of your previous successful upgrade levels. It was a good game when it came out but with several updates and content changes, it's become clear to me that this game was just a gambling factory.
