It would be best to first watch the list of the games released in the first few weeks of app store. Games like BIA were released in December 2008, there were tons of ports before that. Even Enigmo and Crash Nitro Kart were ports. There were also match-3 games on day one AFAIK.

How are you gonna list the same games for two different genres?

And the games listed for adventure aren't even adventure games at that.

Still, I can see your strategy for this topic: just throw some ideas out there and hope one sticks. Some would call it desperate, but, in a way, it's pretty genius. You're bound to get at least one right, after all. Good try. :)

First Game That Used Accelerometer Controls:

    I'm gonna go with...PapiJump. No...wait...Super Monkey Ball. Yeah...Monkey Ball.

First Game That Used The Virtual DPad:

...wow...that's actually a tough one. Um...jeez...I'll go with Hamster House, as that's the first game I remember playing that had a virtual dpad instead of joystick.

First Game That Used The Virtual JoyStick:

Either Hero of Sparta or Pac Man

    First Action Game:

Super Monkey Ball, as games of that sort are a subgenre of action games. PapiJump was the first action>platformer (platformers being another subgenre of action games).
The first action game with a combat focus was, of course, Hero of Sparta (hack 'n slash).

    First Puzzle Game:

    Enigmo or Sega Columns Deluxe.

    First Adventure Game:

Frotz, which is actually a text adventure compilation app.

The first new, made for iPhone/touch adventure game, though, was Soul Trapper Ep. 1: Ollie Ollie Oxen Free (which, btw, is to date the only audio adventure on this platform...sadly)

    First TD Game:

    Fieldrunners...I think....

    First Match 3 Game:

    Sega Columns Deluxe

    First Console Port:

    ...

Tricky question. Depends on what you mean by "port".

If you mean a version of a game that originally appeared on home consoles, then that would be Super Monkey Ball, which wasn't a port but a version of a home console game IP specifically built for iPhone/touch (well, actually, an arcade game).

If, however, you mean an actual home console to iPhone/touch port...well...I dunno. Might've been, maybe...that bootleg Duck Hunt port? :p

First port from one platform to this platform, btw, was probably either Sega Columns Deluxe (cell phone port) or Enigmo (port of a Mac game).

Thanks. I thought about that before posting, but they do have some story and the main idea of adventure is like well an adventure. Dizzy Bee you go around the ocean saving your fruit friends, Moto Chaser you're saving a cat through 9 levels, CBNK3D has a 12 mission story mode, and SMB you go around and get bananas through 110 levels.

Good one about Collumns Deluxe, I forgot about that.

omg spiff stop being the genre nazi you barely even understand what genres are. genres are generic categories its why they share the same root word genus same root found in general and generic. that means genres are very broad and never expslicitly stated so they are completely subjective that guy can think what he wants please dont make us both ruin this thread please :)
