    Yeah, PC gamers.

I kid, I kid. I'm sure there are a lot of people who disagree... probably a good few around here... *points fingers*

  4. Sure, being pretty doesn't make it a game, but it helps to create immersion, and that in turn allows me to sink it to the RPG world more :)

I suppose... but I grew up on games that consisted mainly of black and one other colour, and it didn't harm the immersion at all. I'd get lost in those for hours. Immersion is all in the imagination, the game's graphics are only there to fuel it.

Elder Scrolls IV was epic, loved going around and causing havoc. Problem is with any game this size there are bound to be countless bugs. Just look at the Elder Scrolls wiki, almost every single article has a bugs list on it lol. Every quest, every character, every item, etc. Good thing unofficial oblivion patch fixed most of that.
The "realism" might appeal to some people but I had to apply lots of mod to make people look less ugly. Some NPCs are just in desperate need of plastic surgery.

Really looking forward to this, I just hope it isn't sullied with bugs like Fallout: New Vegas' release.

Yes I know that was a different studio, but it can sometimes be almost, expected of games of this style

I'm pretty sure it will be, to be honest. As November's Chopin said, there are just too many possibilities for things to go wrong for them to have any hope of nailing them all. Morrowind had bugs, Oblivion had bugs, Fallout 3 had bugs... some crippling and potentially game-breaking (thankfully those are usually the ones that get addressed first) but it seems the number is just so high they end up throwing in the towel and giving up on patches and updates.

Not that the game won't be fantastic, of course. I loved Fallout 3 even though I did have to follow the Fallout wiki through every single quest to avoid bugs, just as November's Chopin did with Oblivion.

Or it looks like the surgery was a failure.

Anyone else get the Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition?

I did, it was an adventure trying to find it though. My local Gamestop only got two copies that were preordered, and he had to call like four other stores before he found one with an extra.

I've never played Oblivion before (or any other Elder Scrolls games for that matter), but it's great so far, especially for being a five year old game. For those that are interested, it comes with the base game, a separate disc that installs the two expansion packs (at least on Xbox, on PS3 it might all be on one disc), a "Making of Oblivion" DVD, a map of the world, and a rebate offer which gets you a $10 Visa card if you send them a receipt that shows you bought Skyrim and the strategy guide (lame, I know). Oh, and it all comes in an awesome metal case (a la Metroid Prime Trilogy for those of you who bought that).

Yeah asking to buy a strategy guide is lame, and the guide costs way more than $10, so that offer is a complete rip-off. There are entire wikis dedicated to every info you'll ever need for Oblivion, way more than the strategy guide can provide.
That bundle you got, well unless you're a hardcore Oblivion fan or something, then the stuff they throw at you are virtually worthless, especially a metal case (what're you gonna do with a metal case?), lol reminds me of novelty erasers.

If it's a steelbook case then I'd buy it. Those things are badass. Crappy old PC game tin case... no.

It's a steelbook. At least for consoles. Only bad thing is that with all the stuff they try to cram into there, the thing can barely even close unless you have the slip cover on it.

Took some pictures for those interested:

Ok, that is a beautiful steelbook. I'm assuming it isnt actually engraved, but it looks like it is. I've already got Oblivion though, and tbh I never really thought it was amazing like many people say.

That being said, I've already pre-ordered Skyrim at Best Buy. It looks amazing, and it looks like they really upped the combat which is something that I think should be improved on. Melee combat in first person games is always hard, but it looks like they've done a good job here. I can't wait. Thankfully I've got a pretty big backlog of games to play and there are some great games coming out between now and November.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was engraved, I've got a bunch that are including Turok on PS3 and my Jurassic Park trilogy steelbook :p

Oh man I know it's not the best game ever, but at least to me and a few of my friends it is just an instant classic.

Maybe it helps looking at the game's world through a very comedic lens to love it as much as we do, but at the end of the day its a nicely populated experience in a very immersive environment.
