after 1.31 update and testing so far the spawn bug is fixed that i can tell, i will let you know in a bit playing it on lunch break at work.
If you have Xbox live Gold you can currently get the full game for free and try it out before you purchase the mobile version.
ok so so far the respawn glitch is fixed, but now what i notice is before getting to the old mans house to find his monocle. when you talk to him first to get the quest to meet him in his house you continue to the right, and there is a hard area i dont think is supposed to be here yet, i got passed it but others might not be so lucky as there are monkeys tossing hives at you and giant scorpions, rhino beetles, poisonous frogs, and snakes. once i got past this i had to jump over some magma puddles than i got to the area where the old mans house is which is much easier...i never had to go through this hard part before so was not sure if what intentional or not. the other issue i found is i died a few times getting past the monkey part i got to some temple went in and died it created a check point, when it first respawned me it spawned me back at the old man giving me the quest to find his house, when i died again it spawned me back in that temple.
the biomes always generate randomly, so you might get a hard monkey area - even in the beginning after the first biome. the only things we really tried to limit were if you didn't have a skill or power that was required to pass a certain area.
that is fine, i would put the monkey area later tho as that is one tough area for the very beginning i mean its still like part of tutorial mode till you get the quest of the leap of faith. I would add it later, i would also add a pan feature cause some of the pits are death and you would not know the camera should go a little farther down , like if i pause it or something we can pan around a bit there is a few games like this.
My personal thoughts on such a system is that it has the potential to slow the game down too much. The game is meant to be brutal, as your character is essentially cursed to live the life of a deer because of his actions. Also, the controls are finicky enough as it is; adding more functions that would require control in some way might make the game even harder to play IMHO. I do think that a Far Sight power could be worth implementing in DLC, as it would use the button for activating power ups that already exists this minimizing extra control complexity, and would be a very useful bonus for navigating the treacherous parts of each biome, but would require effort to unlock, thus keeping the game's core theme of brutal survival at all costs intact while giving players a reward for surviving up to that point. That's my humble opinion, though.
I wholeheartedly agree tht the ability to pan the camera to see potential pitfalls of spikes before blindly jumping into them is totally essential. If by design, these deaths are absurdly ridiculous. Big design fail.

Interesting concept, nice visuals andgraphics and there is no IAPs. I hope controls are good though. Definitely will try this game!
I reached a part, soon after the train, that I couldn't pass because I couldn't jump high enough. Is that supposed to happen? There was a box to jump on, but it still didn't bring me high enough. I tried to retrace my steps and died, respawning way way before the train again. So... I think I done with this game, unfortunately. Should I have gone a different way? Are there branching paths? (It didn't seem that there were).
It depends how old you are if you can make the jump, because as you grow your jumps get higher and you run faster as well. You can't make it up onto those tunnel tops without jumping on top of the train unless you are an older deer, have mushrooms or a vine powerup.
I'm still desperately trying to love this game but finding it increasingly hard and, strangely, impenetrable. I love games and I love 'games as art', but this one is starting to grate. I'll wait for the update before leaving a rating anywhere, but I have to say I'm finding it teeth-gnashingly frustrating and have done pretty much since the beginning. Any other game I'd have given up on quite some time ago.
We got some valuable feedback from the TA review and some folks that are really going through it hardcore - I think the controls can be perfected and the camera fixed. There is an update submitted for the respawn glitch and the achievement bug.. Progress!
Your response is one of the reasons I'm still hanging in there as I know CM does care. Thanks for the info Josh. It's much appreciated.
It wasn't at the train, it was PAST the train where I couldn't make the jumps. I've never seen either mushrooms or vines while playing, as far as I know.
the hermit gives you a mushroom in the first quest you do in the game - otherwise you should be able to do a double jump off of the train to get over the tunnel. The vine is a powerup that you get in the jungle, you can plant a vine anywhere when you have it (Smb style)
