Good point. While I hope they get someone good to do the voices (Batman's and Bane's shouldn't be that hard), I still worry about Gameloft's casting choices (i.e. the whiny Peter Parker in Amazing Spider-Man). The gameplay looks awesome! It looks like there's a wide variety of combat moves and gadgets, and the fact that we get to ride vehicles is amazing! BAT-POD!!! Now I'm REALLY looking forward to this!
Has anyone noticed that it's raining in every scene of the trailer? I get that Gotham is dark. But rain 24/7 could be annoying, with Gameloft, it is possible.
Animations Gameloft, animations... Man they suck. Get it right! I would far rather have lower res textures and you spend more time with the animations!
Yeah, but that would cost money (motion capture and/or licensing fees for pre-captured motion footage). Much easier to pay an hourly employee to tweak and milk an existing game engine. Either way, I'm guessing the pre-installed file size will be well over a gig. I'm out...
I'm willing to pay a premium price for a premium quality game... Besides, other GL games have far better animations. This is just skimping to make a deadline.
While the forum goers want better animations, Gameloft makes their money off the kids who want the graphics. And we all know they want to make their money.
I like the sound of this description from the Dark Knight Rises FB app... "Drive the Bat-Pod for special vigilante missions or pilot The Bat for fast travel across the city."
This is the mentality that allows Gameloft to continue with sub-par games. Who cares if there's no original ideas in it? It's a full-fledged cod clone with online multiplayer! Who cares if NOVA 3's optimization is sloppy and terrible and doesn't take full advantage of the hardware, it's graphics are console quality! Who cares if Gameloft hasn't a shred of creativity or original gameplay in their products, it's a freakin' batman game!!!! when this stops and the consumer starts demanding a better product (and for that matter stops pirating and complaining about paying 7 bucks) we'll see some change. ^Read: never. *sigh* It's at times like these I think iOS is doomed to angry birds and Jetpack joyride.
I actually think GL's in house engine is great if enough time and care is taken to optimize. MC3 runs *ok* on 4th gen iPods, that's a real feat. I think GL needs to start releasing maybe 2-3 games a year max and focus on quality and complete optimization. Of course that'll never happen...
I might have been able to overlook the engine in spider-man if the combat system was any good. Or if the fights in the storyline, especially the ones with the lizard, didn't revolve around button mashing the attack button, occasionally mashing the dodge button. But no, unfortunately the combat system was only a shadow of the one used in total mayhem. What does this have to do with Batman, you ask? It's no coincidence GL is releasing 2 open world superhero games this close together. Batman will be a re-skin of spiderman, and if the fun part of spiderman was web-slinging across the city, then batman will play just like spiderman, but without any fun. Essentially, it will be like the one mission in spiderman where you lose the ability to websling... only it will be for the whole game. Given that that mission made me almost throw my iPad every time I played it... I think I'll have to pass on this game. So... where are those unreal engine games GL?
