The "Double jump Bug" shouldn't be your primary focus. Your "Broken controls/interface" as a whole should be. Start a game, character runs a direction by themself, no hands on screen yet. Start a game, character attacks/jumps by themself, no hands on screen yet. If I need to make a video showing this, I'd be glad to. I have an iPhone4, have rebooted/restarted, on and on. While the game is decent, it's basically in a beta stage at this point. I'm hoping for a fast fix since we've already paid for the game. P.S. People requesting a landscape mode is unrealistic from your original vision for this game, needing "falling distance" for reaction time. Creating a solid/better control scheme (that works when or not when pressed) will alleviate this request.
Love how the game barely seems to drain any battery. Please keep it that way! Also, I know what's missing. Local Bluetooth multiplayer where you race in the same column of falling blocks as your opponents, shooting out the blocks from beneath their feet. Imagine.
To be honest, I can live with the bugs. Some crashes and what not are fine for the time being. But despite this being my most popular game on my device atm, I only play it about 5 minutes a day, because my hands cramp up and hurt for the rest of the day. Making landscape a reality should be your main priority.
Amazing game unlocked all of the characters and I really haven't run into any bugs rather than barely being under like 0.1 centimeter under a block and dying, maybe bump you off the edge instead? Idk. Also, you guys should totally contact the devs of The Incident and see if they would let you add the main character to your game ;D
I love the game but like others have said, it's quite buggy. Sometimes when you seem to be safe from a black, you aren't and you die like the person above me said just being pushed out if your close to the edge would be better. Another thing, sometimes if i jump into blocks as there falling into me, they can't crush me. Also the controls are too cramped on the bottom another scheme or landscape mode would make it great.
Weird, mine has never done that. I'm on a 3rd Gen Touch and not jailbroken, so maybe there's an issue with just current devices? Anyone else with this problem?
Just wanted to add my second impressions of the game, now that I've had more time with it. While my previous complaints about the controls still stand, the controls did not feel as cramped this time, at least not for a while (after ~20 min the started to feel cramped again). I enjoyed the game much more this time through, getting all of the characters minus the LoE secret agent, and even getting a highscore Without any control issues, I'd give this an 8 or 9 out of 10. With these issues id give it a 6.5. I can't wait for the control update! Also, I'm not sure if I supported the horizontal mode suggestion in one of my earlier posts, but now I don't think that is necessary. *Back to getting 10,000 total meters!*
The control fixes are coming soon! The quickest fixes for us are the issues with the current set up. As for landscape, I understand a lot of you are eager to get this in. I assure you it's A LOT more work then a quick fix and we are going to try and get it in for a future update. Please be patient and understand we're a 2 man team and we're doing our best to give you guys what you want. We also have more modes, Characters and Achievements planned for an update in the coming weeks. So this game will definitely get even better! Thanks to everyone who has bought the game and we really appreciate all of your support! If you haven't had a chance, go review the game and tell your friends about it!
Landscape mode does seem hard... I know how much of a pain in *** it can be. my dad and uncle are trying to code a app and xcode seems mighty confusing till you get the hang of it.Kinda like the first time I looked at CADD and I was like ohhh damn this isn't gunna be fun
Finally unlocked The Agent! Cheers!!! More characters would be astonishing and I am curious about different modes. Thanks for keeping things coming.
are there going to be any changes to the physics at all? it feels very floaty right now but i'm sure i will get used it eventually that if it's going to stay that way forever...
Halfbot, if you really want to make your game a success, then you have to stop taking every single bit of advice given here. Landscape mode is ridiculous for this type of game, especially considering how difficult it is to actually implement it. I can see it working for the iPad, but not for the iPhone. The only thing the controls need is a bigger response area. Look at League of Evil; the buttons aren't that big but they're very responsive. You don't have to make the buttons bigger (why would you even do that if it will reduce screen space?), just make them more responsive (by increasing the area of space that is responsive) And one more thing: some of the character just plain suck. Usually when people unlock stuff, their characters get beefed up (that's why people like RPGs and the like). Here, we have characters like Halfbot that are completely useless. What you should do is, if you don't just want to increase the character's attributes, you can add clever mechanisms. If the Halfbot character were given 4 jumps instead of 2, he might be interesting to play as (and also quicken his "gun" animation). So far, the only character worth playing as is the first one (though I haven't unlocked the LoE agent yet) Also, the sound a bit low for some reason.
Please dev, this guy is soooo wrong. Landscape is absolutely necessary, and the characters are awesome. Keep doing what you're doing, the game is very fun.
Ignore both of them. Make the game you had in mind when you started and decide between yourselves which ideas are worth implementing and which are total dog crap.
Agreed. This kind of fast paced game really isn't well suited to cramped portrait controls. The talk about losing vertical space is true but it's not as game breaking as it's made out to be. The Incident is a landscape falling game that uses an indicator to tell you when pieces are falling. My suggestion would be to zoom out the game. That is take the game as it is, rotate it to landscape and add more horizontal room. It's not an ideal situation as the art may be too small for some. An easy way to check is to take a snapshot of the game, go to Photos, and rotate into landscape. It would be that size. The game would also need a separate leaderboard since more lateral movement makes the game easier by default.
Well well well, I think we have a potential gem on our hands here, unfortunately it is being hurt by the controls and sometimes wonky physics. The buttons are very unresponsive at times, and that is one of the main reasons I haven't unlocked the agent yet. I really love the artwork, music, sound effects, attention to detail, characters to unlock, and overall fun gameplay. The problems though can make it quite frustrating. One thing I have noticed is that the blocks will many times get out of line with the grid. From what I've seen, they are supposed to fit together perfectly, but there have been times where blocks will fall and be a few pixels out of line with each other, or more. Many times I have died because I tried to run out of the way of a falling block, but my character got stuck on a block that was probably a single pixel higher than the one I was standing on. Also, I've noticed that when jumping, if an arrow key is pressed, the character will initiate a sort of double jump, but then the regular double jump is nullified, which has cause me many deaths. I just want to direct the direction the characters moves when I press the arrow key, not make him jump again. I want the second jump to always be available to me if I need it, but that is not usually the case. Also, I've noticed that if you don't do the second jump quick enough, it won't work at all, sending your character to his death. This post may seem like a bunch of rambling from an unsatisfied customer, but on the contrary, I am very happy with my purchase. I just can't help but feel like this game could be so much better if the few bugs that exist are squashed. With that said, I love this game and cannot wait to see what else you bring to the table. I love all the unlockable characters, and I really like that you and League of Evil are teaming up. Maybe both of your companies should really form one big team and take hints from each other. You guys have the unlockables and details down perfectly, and League of Evil has the controls and music. With both of you together, you could seriously have a force to be reckoned with!
I say don't listen to either of the first two guys OR the third guy. Don't listen to yourselves either; listen only to me. Acknowledge, then await further instructions.
To those complaining about the controls: http://www.doingitwrong.com/wrong/wrong19.jpg I've watched two friends have their first go in this game and they both molested the dpad like it was a side scrolling platformer. As soon as you let up and only tap it to adjust your ascent the game makes sense. There are bugs (I've had my character run off by himself), but the controls/physics/"floatyness" are all on point. You want landscape? Play The Incident. Less cramp? Play it on your iPad. Another idea for a new mode that ought not to take much work would be a Tilt To live-esque "Code Red", where the action starts much quicker than it does currently.
