I really can't see this game in landscape mode. Maybe when it would be an option to chose for those with large (huge) hands Looking forward to controls fixes and plz add some new chars in future updates.
The contest rules are that we are picking one of our twitter followers randomly at Midnight to win a free promo code. So you just follow @halfbot to be eligible and you don't have to stay up to get a chance at the code. That's just when we'll announce the winner. We'll probably do this a daily for the rest of the week.
People saying this can't be landscape are missing the obvious: you can have it vertically oriented, but scaled down for landscape. I mean, the playing area would still be portrait, just scaled down - so there'd be bars on either side. It's not like this game has detailed graphics. For me that would be perfect.
I have no clue what that means. So you press the left side to move left and the right side so move right? What about the jump and shoot buttons?
A vertical rectangle in the center of the screen is the play area. Left/Right buttons to the left side of the play area, jump and attack to the right of the play area. A button layout similar to League of Evil would work great. Is that clearer?
I said it a few pages back but take a snapshot of the screen while playing Then go into photos and rotate your device That would be how the graphics show and the controls would be spread out like League of Evil. The devs could add more horizontal area to fill the screen but by doing that it would make the game easier so they would need a separate leaderboard for it.
Just letting you guys know we are having another Promo code giveaway today via twitter. Check out @halfbot or our blog for more details http://www.halfbot.com/?p=458
I'm glad I paid for the game. Hopefully I didn't scare anyone from a purchase with my first impressions. Edit: I seem to like the game a little bit more each time I play it. This happen for anyone else?
After not winning the contest tonight, I figured I might go ahead and buy this anyway, but then saw the price had gone up to $1.99 (which is strange because it still says $.99 on App Shopper). I didn't realize that $.99 was a sale price. Anyway, I'm now a bit hesitent (not that another $1 is gonna kill me) after reading some of the reviews with crashes, control issues, etc. How's the experience for anyone with an iPod Touch 2G? And was the price raise to $1.99 a mistake? Just strange because didn't think it was advertised as an introductory price and also a lot of the critical reviews quoted in the description say how great it is for $.99.
That surprise price increase does seem odd and it would give me pause too. However, I've had a lot of fun with The Blocks Cometh and the developer is obviously standing behind the game recently publishing screenshots of a coming update (gameboy skin). On my 3G (can't comment on 2G) I've had no crashes and been satisfied with the control mechanics (I've gotten all characters unlocked). It's a no brainer for $0.99 but especially if the update pans out I'd recommend shelling out the extra buck for quality support. If you enjoy platformers or endless games this is a can't miss.
They announced the price increase on their twitter (@halfbot) saying this would be the last day to get it at 99 cents. League of Evil increased to 1.99 as well. It makes sense that it would increase since they are working hard on more content for us. I think you're right about it not being stated that it was an intro price but at the same time I don't remember them saying it would stay at 99 cents either. I've never had a crash but the devs already sent the patch with the double jump fix to Apple. We just have to wait for approval. The game is totally playable in the current state, the issues aren't game breaking at all, it's just this game needs a lot of fine control when you start getting to 1000m
I'm doing better at this game in spite of the vertical orientation, but it just makes me all the more anxious for the apparently coming landscape controls (but vertical playing area). It is a fun game, but if you've got larger hands I'd still say to hold off at the $1.99 price until we see the release of the promised update.
