While that’s true, Ed McMillen has distanced himself from Nicalis for quite a while now. That said, it’s unfortunate that Isaac is under Nicalis, but there’s ultimately nothing that can be done.
Thanks a lot for this information. This made me immediately rethink my planned purchase. The Nicalis boss really sucks. And thanks to you metalcasket for clarifying that its only the publisher and not the developer. Anyway. Throwing so much money into the hands of a maybe racist and exploiting publisher makes my planned purchase just a big question mark.
But even if the boss is possibly an asshole, there’s still people who put A LOT of work into this port, and that shouldn’t go unearned.
Common sense would say this update could potentially be released with the week’s App Store refresh, but surely this can’t be featured, right? EDIT: App Store has already refreshed.
Nope, no DLC inside of the game so far. It’s weird, it says it’s 2.8GB of data now but the game downloaded way faster than that.
This is definitely one of the weirdest things I’ve seen on the App Store. I was under the assumption all the changes to its page meant the update was approved, and all my common sense has now been flung out the window. My last attempt at trying to figure shit out would be the following: It’s released manually at 10 AM PST. It’s Friday and that’s the common release time for Steam releases so maybe Nicalis are creatures of habit or something. Then again, do updates get manual releases? If the update’s not out an hour and 5 minutes from the time of this post, I give up.
Well, once I was looking forward to its release. Wait too long. and while that time, I saw too disappointment words. I feel like, soon I'll give up on this and pay for another games. Good bye
I also haven’t found any info about whats going on. Maybe Nicalis inc decided to withhold the update for a specific time . IDK.
My Spidey sense is telling me the update is being held up by Apple for some reason. I'm pretty sure the IAP stuff is just checking boxes in iTunes Connect so it's possible that's why they're showing up without the game being updated yet. I have not yet heard from anyone at Nicalis regarding this so this is just my own speculation.
This would actually explain quite a bit, as there's something else I've noticed (though it would beg the question "Why is iTunes Connect's back-end so janky these days?"): Return to Castlevania is listed as a $6.99 DLC for Dead Cells even though there is NOTHING indicating it's coming (apart from common sense) to the iOS version.
If I remember correctly, when BoI was originally released, there was also an issue with it not being approved because of too much blood, gore contents or something similar. It had to be resubmitted several times before it was approved. I might be wrong tho… EDIT: here’s the rejection reason from the original one: https://venturebeat.com/games/apples-gaming-censorship-continues-the-binding-of-isaac-blocked-from-app-store/#:~:text=This is a satire of,it portrays violence against children.
What’s odd is that they didn’t just add the IAPs, they also greatly increased the app size on the iTunes Store, which I’m assuming reflects the new app. Current app is less than 400 MB. Not the 2.8 GB it says on the store. That was another reason I thought the release was impending.
