I‘m so hyped. One of the best top down shooters with rogue like elements ever made in my opinion. Unlocked everything in the original flawless port. Let my addiction start again!

This updated port is very likely an Apple Arcade port, look at the Game Center account thing at the start, it’s the same as it is in the Apple Arcade releases. That’s just my theory tho.

I don’t recall ever seeing this game on Apple Arcade, and I’d be surprised if it ever shows up there, since it’s a $20.99 (plus tax) game in Canada.

You know, this or Netflix games would make some sense. Why the dev is returning now after leaving it dead for so long. Why they're being cagey about the nature of the new app or update. The new version having full cloud sync and such in this promo...

Edit: Does look more like Arcade interface guidelines than how Netflix has been handing accounts, profiles, and syncing...

Arcade games have to be family friendly which this game is definitely not.

Why family friendly ? Is it family friendly when you shoot things to kill in most shooters ?

This is an iOS classic. I’m glad it’s not PG

Shooting is not the problem apple arcade would have with BOI. It‘s more about the world and story that is problematic. A small kid running away from his mom because she want‘s to kill him because god has told her to do so. The small child cries and the tears are his weapon. In a world full of poop and drugs. That‘s why BOI got banned from the appstore before. I also don‘t think apple would ever touch this for arcade. And in my opinion this game won‘t fit any way in their family friendly games catalogue.

Strangely, with it being a sorta scat/gore-ish roguelike dual stick shooter, I'm not a fan of the game, like it didn't click for me; but I hope it's a stand alone, independent app, because, in case I wanna bite, I'm not willing to subscribe to any service. If it ends up being a subscription, I'll have to go for the console version if it comes to Switch.

As for the already available game, which hasn't been updated in several years, is there any problem with it on modern devices/iOS? I haven't reinstalled it after updating to iOS16, but it worked fine on iOS14; I own an iPh8, which is 5 years old now, though, which might explain not having screen ratio/borders/notch/Illuminati issues.

Main problem is it dont run full screen on newer devices. Rebirth is a flawless port other wise.

But the UI looks the same as in other Apple Arcade releases. Although there are no 17+ games on the service so we’ll have to see.

Would be nice, if the iPad mini could be considered. So often games are running with black borders to the left and to the right.

Not necessarily, there are other games that use that style/type of icon for Game Center that are not on Apple Arcade. ScourgeBringer for example. Plus, we got to keep in mind that Apple did reject Binding of Issac’s release multiple times, mainly for its type of content. I don’t know if they will put it on their Apple Arcade service. It would be difficult for them to promote and advertise I think, since Apple is very particularly about the visual content they sell.

    Edit:
The chances for iPad screen support is good I think. Hopefully…

I love how seeing new posts in this thread always makes me check it with a pessimist attitude and turns out the latest post is actually good news. Would hate it otherwise.

    Will it update original version?

Or would be released as new version?

They never said. But a app icon was shown awhile ago.

Would prefer a new version. Would give the devs some money as an update probably won’t

I actually think they should keep the original version. I mean they haven’t made a single update in six years. They can add IAPs for DLC but their support for the original app has been non-existent, which honestly would make me hesitant to buy a new app. What happens is the next iOS breaks it? Are they going to abandon it like they did with the original app? It’s not like this was some cheap $.99 game.

Wouldn’t that be more reason for a new full app though. If the app is removed for some reason you can usually just download the full app still in your purchase history…… Unless it was also removed from the purchase history on developers request, That would suck. I unfortunately don’t think iap work the same way once the game is removed, the iap might be gone. I could be wrong though. I never tried to restore a iap once the game was removed.
