    Gotta say...

I've tried nearly all of the Tower Defense games, having discovered the genre for the first time with Fieldrunners. I've gotta say, though I really like GeoDefense, I think The Creeps has gotten the most playtime for me. The graphics are solid, the variation between levels is excellent, the destructive environment is an original twist and the number of different levels and modes really can't be beat for the price (in my book). I'm actually surprised more people aren't giving that one the nod.

I also think Defender Chronicles is excellent, though I don't seem to have the interest in grinding (which seems entirely necessary to amass token) that some do. So while I've played through all the levels and gold starred a couple I can't quite bring myself to keep going over the same ol' levels again and again, trying to up my level and armor just to goldstar many of them.

After that would probably come GeoDefense for me. I do find it a tad too hard for my liking - gets a little annoying for me honestly, though I know a lot of people like the steep level of challenge.

Sentinel 2, 7 Cities, Fieldrunners and Elemental Monsters all probably fall after that for me, but probably only because I've played the heck out of all of them. The fact that I still dedicate space to all of them on my maxed out 3GS means I think they're all worthy (and can't bring myself to delete them for fear the devs might add *one more level*!)
    ;-)

I agree with everything you said, except for one thing. I got bored with it fairly quickly because it was just so easy. Even at the hardest levels, the only question was will I beat it with no losses, or will one of the Bosses get by me.

Its a pity, because it had great graphics, lots of different environments, and some fairly unique towers. The problem was that the developer never made it hard enough to retain my interest.

And this is not me showing off. If you looked at the number of geodefense levels I haven't beaten yet, you would know I am no TD king. There are plenty of other TDs (and I have purchased most of them) that I find very hard. I just with this had been updated to make it more challenging.

Also, you don't mention Beseigment. How could you skip that one?

What's your take on Beseigment, Michael? I find this game addictive these days. I'm quite surprised this TD hasn't gotten lots of mention around here. I'm new to TD btw but have tried the frequent metioned ones here except the latest Sentinel.

I think its one of the best.

Its the only one of all of them that has both a fully fleshed out path based and free field component.

Lots of Tower types, lots of maps.

First version had ok graphics, second version has great graphics.

Its the one I always recommend first, because it allows someone new to TDs to try out everything.

    Regards, Michael

Thanks for the take. Glad to know I'm not alone. Besiegment is definitely a must for any TD fan out there. Simply addicting. The easy levels are good starters yet it gets sooo challenging as you hustle to get perfect gold marks as you go along. My gripe is that the menu pages look cheap and simple but the gameplay is what matters though. Kudos to the devs and hope they improve on a more perfect TD in the future.

There is no such thing as a best TD game

What I like may not be liked by so many PpL, take your pick or ask for a list of "your top x TD games"

I love TapDefense, its free & has a very interesting interest system
I love INKoming! it has some very polished graphics & a great concept materialised, i.e., controlling the magnitude of the damage the weapon can make imho
I love Sweetwater Defense as the lite kept me hookd for 3 hrs or something. It also costed me only 99 cents
I do not like Fieldrunners so much as it has only 6 towers(most of the games have the same, iKno - then why pay so much for it ?)
The Devs. to vanished to create a port of the once exclusive game for the iPhone & the iPod touch
