"Squire in the newts!" Married with Children is the greatest comedy of all-time. The episode where Al Bundy tries to score a touchdown against Spare Tire was the funniest half hour in the history of television. That slow motion sequence where Al blocks Spare Tire's attempt at a Three Stooges eye gouge and then they both turn around and pull out their wallets and blind each other with pictures of their mothers in law. Genius. Pure genius. Homeboys in Outer Space was pretty close though. And the first few seasons of In Living Color. Beavis and Butthead is the greatest animated comedy of all-time. South Park tries too hard to do social commetary and make political statements. All Beavis and Butthead cares about is being funny. By the way, new episodes of Beavis and Butthead are coming back to MTV this fall. After 15 years or whatever, I'm not convinced they will be able to recapture the magic. That episode where Mr. Buzzcut says to Beavis and Butthead: "You wanna see a man, boy? Kick me in the jimmy!" Classic. Just classic. Good times. Few shows can make you laugh out loud until you cry. Beavis and Butthead and Married with Children (during it's time) fit that category.
Checked out the show a couple days ago and made it up to episode 7 yesterday. Great show, filled up my empty summer days nicely.
Very, very nice. Have to wait a week for another 45 minutes :[. I'll probably go finish catching up on HIMYM. In any case, Harvey is such a boss in Suits.
Psych isn't necessarily the best ever... But seriously. They did Simple Minds. [hqyoutube]fQ_f2tw0N_o[/hqyoutube]
Doctor Who! I'm not really a fan of American comedies or sitcoms. I watched Two and a Half Men on TV the other day and could not understand for the life of me what was funny about it. Hell, I wasn't even keen on Friends when everyone else was going crazy for it in my youth. That said, I really love How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory. Big Bang Theory especially, as I make sure I never miss an episode. That's a big deal for me, as I generally don't bother watching TV and there are very little shows that I will watch all episodes for. Edit: I'm surprised no one else has mentioned Big Bang Theory actually, I love the series so much. I am also ashamed that I have missed out my favourite show ever, Father Ted. I have seen every episode at least ten times each, more for specific ones, such as kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse!
Two and a Half Men and Friends are crappy shows aimed at the lowest common denominator, they should not be taken as a measure of quality. Instead, check out the following: Arrested Development - Simply the greatest sitcom of all time! OF ALL TIME! It's well written, highly quoteable and full of top notch actors. It's also short enough to be enjoyed over the course of a few weeks in marathon viewing sessions. Sports Night - Arron Sorkin's sitcom that predates The West Wing. It's smart and highly enjoyable even if you aren't into sports. Weeds - The show has kind of come off the rails in later seasons but the first three are dark and hilarious. Doctor Who taken as a whole is a great show though the quality varies, it went way downhill in the 1980's and some of the longer episodes can get fairly boring. I'm partial to the 3rd Doctor era and the new series myself.
Anyone watching X Factor US? Hated American Idol, but just spent the past however long watching all the US episodes so far, lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlQstQzb4A8 Everyone has to watch this upcoming star in action. I really liked Chris Rene's performance though.
Mine would be... Community Modern Family Fringe (I can't explain it, I just love it) I only recently started to actually watch TV, so I'm not familiar with older ones
