** HD on iPhone 4S and iPad 2, with 60Hz display refresh with in-game “Battery Savings” option turned off.** Does this mean there's an option to turn this on but it drains your battery fast?
Iphone 4 here, and I'm not sure it would look that much better on a 4S. That's not to say it looks bad though, by no means. I know it's not retina... The gameplay is actually quite fun. I'm impressed how they handled the controls, actually, they're pretty good. I thought the use of the touch screen in addition to the traditional joystick was pretty awesome. There's another (default) option in the menu for controls - "touch", but I don't want to use it, joystick serves me just fine. I think I feel the same way about this that I do about Aralon - the game is not the best looking, but there's a lot of game to enjoy.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-bards-tale/id480375355?mt=8 Now out in the US! It's a dollar cheaper than expected too, $5.99.
Deleting half my MP3s... preparing to sync to iTunes over DSL... if I'm not back in 2 hours assume the game is really good or my iPod melted. Edit: Make that 3-4 hours for download.
I'm not much into the game but it's smooth gameplay and the little details are great in Retina Display. I'm just really grossed out by the cut-scenes. They look like poor YouTube uploads.
So far it's only that one initial cutscene that's ugly. All other cut-scenes have been done with the in-game engine. The game looks pretty darn good on a 4S, with a perfectly smooth framerate, dynamic lighting and shadows, detailed environments.
WTF? The game installed itself in French! There's no option inside or outside the app for me to switch it to German. I changed my iPhone to English and the game changed to English language, too. Changed back to German and it's French again! Anybody experienced this too?
Thanks for the warning! Please keep us updated! Not sure if I want to pay the 4,99 when I can get the PC Version for 0,01 - plus shipping
Apparently a bug, but honestly who wants to play a game in german language anway where most jokes are completly lost in translation.
I play it in English anyway, mainly because of the voicework from Cary Elwes and (even better) Tony Jay. I was just wondering because I don't want French on my iPhone screen.
As said above, I suggest the English voiceover. In German, it's spoken by Oliver Kalkofe and the jokes are well translated, which is great - but Tony Jay and Cary Elwes are even better.
it is just that I have to set the device to english, ok, that's rather a small annoyance...as long as I dont need to set it to french to play in english
