Thank you my friend. It's what I thought. It's good that the DEVS put a disclaimer, not once I have fallen the trickery of "great graphics" but actually no retina
I seem to be in a minority here - I don't think the game is too expensive (£3.99 is nothing for a game of this quality), it's not too big a file size unless you've got a smaller 8gb device, the controls I'm finding fine and the graphics and gameplay are superb IMHO. I've played almost 5 hours of the game so far. The only thing I can't believe is how I've not noticed the game when it came out on pc in 2004! Its kinds of like a fantastic mixture of Fable and Monty Python - with some of the best (and funniest) voice acting I've heard in a game on any platform. A very quirky, ironic sense of humour that I think will appeal to UK players more. And it manages to mock traditional rpg's in an affectionate way while showing more unique and interesting ideas than I've seen in lots of 'bigger' games of this type. We've all got different views, but please don't let some of the comments made on this forum put you off trying this game - it's an amazing game. Yes, playing on a small mobile touch screen can be fiddly, but it's amazing that we can play this sort of game on such a small device at all IMHO. 28 years ago I was playing rpg adventure games on a big home computer that had a whopping 32k of memory. Now I'm carrying around a device that has over 32 million k and can play games I would never have dreamt possible 28 years ago. Perhaps we should think about that before we get too anal about paying £3.99 for a fully-fledged, voice-acted 3D role-playing adventure.
Personally i really like this game. The size of the game is not really detrimental on my 16gb 4S. Gameplay is good, and it's games like these hardcore rpg gamers like me look for.
I definitely agree that the price is perfect for this game. Like all the bulletpoints u listed would make any think of buying this were it for a NDS or PSP. People are getting used to games being so cheap on the App Store and likewise start thinking that all games should be priced as such. Ya can't blame them really. I get that some games are bigger releases and should be priced as such when deserved and I'm sure others will catch on and agree as long as the quality matches the price, as this game surely does. I love this game and gladly spent the money on it. I'm having a good time playing, I love the humor, I dig the graphics( though I wish they were a lil smoother), and te gameplay is nigh perfect. 4.5/5 from me.
Certain iOS games should run the price of $10-15. I think if this were the case a lot more games should have less bugs and support more devices. Notice I said should because if they actually do raise the prices a lot of people will probably go PFFT! Maybe I shouldn't speculate, but this is sorta what the trend shows. Also, sales should be less frequent, but until certain things get modified, I don't see this happening. Also, the file size is where it should be. If the game is 30 hours of gameplay then 1.7 gigs is on point.
Should I buy this while its still on sale for 6.99 or Aralon To you guys which one is better FYI I am a huge Fable fan and morrowind and oblivion type RPG's seemed a little less fun
Where does it even say its on sale? It's $5.99 btw If it doesn't go on sale for Christmas, I'm going to buy it either way because I love RPGs. This looks great
I read up that Bard Tale is only 5.99 for the first 2 weeks, I forgot my source, going to go look that up to double check. My bad lol, sorry for the typo earlier. 5.99 not 6.99
Thanks for your reply, just bought The Bards Tale. Seems like it may be fun like Fable after doing some research. Out of all games that I ever played and I played a lot, Fable: the lost chapters is still numero uno. 5.99 for something that is compared to Fable seems like a great price.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to this but my internet connection is crap where I live and it took me a day and a half to download the game (it is quite large). I can basically say that I love this game! The controls take a little getting used to but they are still very responsive and smooth. As people keep mentioning, everything is really well voice acted... even the menus are voice acted! The sense of humor is not as crude or horrible as people made it out to be. I think it is a bit juvenile, but in a "mocking the average RPG" way. As for the graphics, I really don't know why some people are having an issue with them. They seem sharp on my ipod 3rd gen and I can see everything but some of the text (which can be a little blurry) just fine. In all I would give the game a 4.5 stars. I am a pretty hard judge and I think this game was an excellent and fun port worth the small price for all the hours of fun game play involved.
If you love RPGs then this is the way to go. Sort of been modifying my all time iOS list. Top 3 King of Dragon Pass (TBS, RPG) The Bard's Tale (strictly RPG) Ravenmark: Sourge of Estellion (TBS that wants to be a tactical RPG) It's not official yet!
Yeah, this is true. Its going sale for two weeks. Original price is $9.99 here is the source: http://kotaku.com/the-bard.s-tale/
Good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The game is worth it. I'm glad some developers won't bend to the AppStore's vampiric market. Again, Top 3! King of Dragon Pass (TBS, RPG) $10 The Bard's Tale (strictly RPG) soon to be $10 Ravenmark: Sourge of Estellion (TBS that wants to be a tactical RPG) $3 but should be at about $6 Aralon was a $10 game and it doesn't come close to these 3 IMO (still a good game though). Aralon was also $7 for 2 weeks and went up to $10. It didn't go on sale for 5 months!
Thanks for the heads up on the original price. Bought! Just hoping they would fix the gamecenter thing though... 50 achievements.... must... obtain....
