I am not even an RPG type of player but I am lovin it! With preaty much every game that come out this year, this game hasn't crashed on me yet. Anyway, a walkthrough of this game would be awesome!
Is this a better game than Eternity Warriors? What's the deal with the battery draining issue with 5.0.1? And how does this rate against the best hack 'n' slash games on the IOS? I'm still sitting on the fence. It has to justify the space and required deleting of stuff that I really like here. Are the graphics muddy, and leave a lot to be desired? Had this a long time ago on the console and liked it. Just because it's a console type game isn't selling me on ot. Convince me I need this!
I've looked up guides on the original, but can anyone tell me how to beat fnarf? I've tried like 5 times now. Ive had all sorts of creatures with me but no luck. Help? Thanks!
I was in the same situation as you yesterday, but I took the plunge and don't regret it at all. Like I said, I am not a hack and slash type of player. I have IB1, Aralon and DF2 and this game suprasses them all. To answer your questions: 1) I am running it in my iPhone 3GS 32 gb iOS 5.01 and no crash issues whatsoever. Today I played it for almost an hour before I got the 20% battery left warning. 2) in my opinion, this is the best hack and slash game on the AppStore. Supposedly, IB2 is popular right now. I don't know what you're looking for? Graphics? Solid gameplay? In rails? Free roam? I dislike games that are on rails, I like to explore. I found the Bard's tale to be fun and interesting. 3) graphics wise, I have to be honest, it's a little bit muddy. Seeing how far iOS has come interms of graphics, this game is ancien. I think it's a blessing in disguise because games with awesome graphics have been pillaged with crashing. 4) controls are very responsive. Keep in mind this game have a bird's view or something lol but when you are interacting with things, the camera goes down. I don't know how to explain but watch the first 10 min of gameplay by Sanuku and you will know what I am talking about. Good luck Boyo, lol. You will know when you play it.
If you haven't beaten him yet, I found standing away from him until Fnarf is offscreen and shooting fire arrows in his direction constantly worked. Eventually he gets hit and it's over. Dont bother getting near and use your electric spider and rat to keep the summoned Fnarf beasts away.
Plays great looks horrible on iPhone 4 The game plays awesome. Looks very muddy on the iPhone 4 non s. Gameplay matters more of course so I am not freaking to much but it is a bit insain that a iPhone 4 that is NOT that old for crying out loud cannot have it sharpened up a bit. Wish they would have attempted some smoothing out for us non s or iPad 2 users. But that's Apple. Always making you need a new device at least once a year.
I'm with you, bud. Next time I need to update to a new device I hope there's at least 128gb of space on it to hold all these big apps, though. Know what I'm sayin'? P.S.- I LOVE your username! That's EPIC!
Man, I really don't know if I want to spend $500 on an iPod though. Plus there are plenty of alternatives to hoarding games on your device (I'm guilty of this as well). Stop hoarding (I'm in remission), iCloud, beat games in a somewhat timely fashion, a 64 gig model will be more than adequate for the next 1-2 years. Apple could jump off its high horse and eventually implement SD cards. Plus if game prices ever rise (which I hope for) people will probably buy games like on console; 5-20 a year, if that!
Do you have a 64 GB model? As far as SD cards are concerned, it's more about the money than anything. Hoarding is an extremely hard habit to break when there's quality games coming out every week or two, lol. I don't think prices will ever rise to that extent.
No, I had a 32gb iPhone, but lost it at my fraternity (probably got stolen at the party). So, now I'm dealing with an 8gb model because I was expecting the release of an actual iPod 5g. I have an Android phone now; better choice, IMO. I was basing it on that there is a 2gb cap on games at the moment and most games don't hit that, especially with the graphical compression technology. So, even if you had only 2gb games, that equates to about 30 games (deducted space for firmware updates, etc.). I just don't think we'll see 30 huge games (at least ones that need to be hoarded over a two year period) in the next year or so. Even if we do, most will hopefully support iCloud. Plus if the market evolves the way I want, hoarding will inevitably decrease. Yeah, SD cards is about the money! It's sort of a shame since they were the richest company in America in August. But hey, that's just big business.
Well, I'm an old dude and have had 4 ipod touches, the last 2 64gb each, 3rd and now 4th gen. I could never own anything less because I use it for multimedia. All my music's on it, over 15gb right there! 32gb of games which I'm always shuffling in and out (deleting and adding), 2gb of pics, and the rest video. Never have more than 2gb free ever. I don't consider it hoarding because I don't get games to just play through thoroughly and dump all the time when I finish them. I enjoy some retro stuff I used to have to pump quarters into back in the '70's and the 80's, as well as games from old systems from way back that I had and can have them in my pocket now and will always keep lots of 'em. Many of them you just try to get a higher score, you don't 'finish' them. I ALWAYS need and want more space, and figure if I'm willing to pay for a better device, I should have that option and they should sell it. As games and apps become bigger and bigger, it's necessary, and a natural progression. I'd hate to have only a few big games on my ipod touch! I've had every single console ever made (some more than once) since Pong in 1972 except the Neo Geo. Spent literally thousands and thousands on video gaming. Seriously, I could buy another house for what I've spent over the years! That's why now I have this little bitchen device now in my pocket that needs no actual software-all DLC! If I wanted 3gb games, or bigger, I'd still be playing an xbox or my PS3! Having so many little bits at once is why I love this little unit! I like it just fine the way it is. I also don't like the 'cloud', because I don't wanna just 'rent' space. I know you can get like 5gb free, but I piss more than that. I can afford it and would gladly pay $500 for a new unit to have what I want! Not everyone will agree, but that's where I'm coming from.
Lots of respect there. Good stuff. Must have been an amazing ride seeing how much the industry has evolved on its journey in growing into the biggest part of the entertainment industry in the US.
The Bard's Tale literally saved the week for me. I was expecting an amazing week of releases, but it turned out to be a crash-fest. First off, the controls are pretty well-done. You have a virtual stick to move around. Works just like the one in Dungeon Hunter except it's jammed a little too closely into the corner. There's a button to attack and one to defend. There's also a button to open up the magic menu, which pauses the game and works like the one in Mage Gauntlet. There's a great mini-map in the upper right, which can be expanded or closed. You can also zoo in and out by pinching the screen. The main menu is a bit painful to navigate though. The words are quite small, and it feels a bit old-fashioned in comparison to menus in other RPGs. The best part of the game is how much soul it has. Imagine Dungeon Hunter 2, but with 10 times the life. It's completely voiced as well, which is done extremely well. The story is definitely something to look forward to. The game relies heavily on humor, so there'll be many innuendos and cracks at various things, but it's fitting for the game and the main character, The Bard. There are quite many cutscenes in the game though as the story is a huge part of the game. You'll complete an assortment of quests and gain levels/equips as you would in a normal RPG. You get stats points to distribute when you level up, different equips have different stats, you gain more magic as you progress through the game, and so on. Pretty common Western RPG stuff, which isn't a bad thing. Of course, the game looks great. There's no retina display however. The world around you definitely feels alive and is extremely detailed. You wouldn't expect less from a PS2/XBox game. Not to mention, the world is huge, and you'll be able to travel around. If you're playing on a 4S or iPad 2, it'll look even better with tons of additional effects. 20-30 hours of gameplay is advertised, and that's probably a good estimate from what I've played so far. Definitely don't expect a short game. For RPG fans looking for the best storyline you'll find in the genre on the AppStore, this is it. I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time with it. Highly recommended for $5.99 and my GOTW for now. It really saved the week for me. Make sure you realize that this game takes up 1.68 GB of space on your device though before getting it. The 14 hours of voice-overs and expansive world account for that.
For sure! Yeah, if you are a big multimedia person, I see the need. i guess it just depends on how you think about marketing the device. People who mostly use it for games; people who mostly use it for apps, music, photos, etc; people, like myself, who have a secondary android device; and people, like yourself, who partake in a ton of multimedia on their mobile device. I still use my laptop for a lot of things and I don't see that changing for me, personally. Plus, like yourself, I've observed the progression of games/gaming. It seems that Apple makes the excuse that they need to sell a $500 device every year (that you need to buy for the latest and greatest) to compensate for cheap games. But the thing is Apple rakes in profits no matter what; developers don't. Apple also doesn't do anything about anti-piracy, which plenty of developers has said is a problem. These are the defining factors that separate console from mobile, IMO.
damn... the game is bugged here in germany. the language is set to french with no possibility to change it to the german or english language version in the options. the first game with an epic storyline for months and poor me isn´t able to understand whats going on. ;(
