Lol, have you watched the movie or did you just not like it? Avatar is the most visually impressive movie I've ever seen IMO.
Dang!!! Avatar made nearly 3 billion! That's crazy. Like some of the guys posted; I haven't seen it yet either.
Yeah, it's crazy 'cause the two highest grossing movies of all time are James Cameron films. (Avatar and Titanic)
Stop watching new movies until you see Avatar, omg, lol. If you're a fan of Hollywood's big-hitters (you are if you're in this thread), Avatar is THE movie to see.
^This^ +1 Seriously, I'm not your typical "Joe-I-Like-Everything-Big-And-Shiny" guy (I'm looking at you, Michael "More Explosions!" Bay), but Avatar blew my mind. It's been a long time since I have quite literally lost track of time during the entirety of a film... And the use of IMAX? Wow. Perfect. DBC
I actually have no interest in seeing Avatar, from what I heard it's ok, but one of the reasons it sold so well was because it was pretty much the first movie that did 3D right. I might get around to seeing it, but for the time being, I don't have any plans to.
If you're not into the story (I wasn't particularly) and you can't see it on the big screen, I wouldn't bother... DBC
I've seen it several times and yes, it is visually impressive, but the story is a bit generic and Sigourny Weaver can't act and Stephen Lang (and Michelle Rodriguez for that matter) is always pidgin holed into the same character. The only star in the movie that showed any acting talent was Zoe Saldana, without her the movie would have been awful. Was it a good movie, yes, was it the best, no. The only saving grace the the whole thing was the visual experience and Zoe's role.
Agreed. Personally, I don't know how interested I'd even be in watching it again at home. In the theater? Sure. The story was a bit of the old, "same old same old," but visually? Yeah, it was pretty good visually. DBC
Avatar isn't bad. It's definitely one of the most visually impressive movies I've ever seen- though I wouldn't say it's amazing (overall). The first time you watch it, it's really enjoyable and you get really pulled into it. The second time you watch it though- you get really bored, and realize how bleh it really is. Each time you watch it, it just gets more and more old, and you realize how tacky/bad some of the acting and lines of dialogue are. I've only seen it like 4 times (twice all the way through), and I can honestly say that I don't have any desire to watch it again. Inception though... Love that movie. Another visually impressive movie- though it's not 3D. Avatar is ultimately like Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. It's awesome when you watch it in a movie theater, but when you watch it at home, you realize that it kind of... Well... Sucks. Not horrible, but not really that great of a movie beyond the special effects. Just skip Avatar and watch Inception if you haven't seen either (just kidding!)
