You could call them similar in the same way you can call an oak tree and a blue whale similar (very different). In my opinion, SW1 was better until Freyr broke it, and with SW2 technically not existing anymore, we only have one option anyway.
Checked Appstore and TA News, and nothing interesting so far. I might give Badlands a try, but that's about it. Well, gives me a chance to maybe clean my backlog a bit. But then I am dumping lots of hours into Blazing Souls right now...
I do... I'm making a derpy sword mod... Anybody get Forge modloader to work? ITS AWESOME!!!! I got the mod rpg inventory which (IMO) is the best mod updated.
I got Wraithborne a while ago at normal price. Did not like it. What put me off the most was the fact that there was no map. And the gameplay wasn't that interesting either.
Hey Sheinfell (or anyone who might understand what I'm harping on about), Do you know how to extract fonts from a TGA file where the background colour is similar to the fill colour inside the letters themselves? That's what's happening with a TGA file a developer sent me, except they somehow get it to render quite effortlessly in the game. I'm trying to open it with an older version of Photoshop, if that helps (e.g. if that's causing it to read the file incorrectly).
@undead: I don't know, but Google is your friend (geez, lazy kids these days, cannot do anything themselves ) : Search for "extract fonts from TGA" . First result leads to a short tutorial: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=6563.0 Or you can try this, but I have no idea about the site's quality/reputation: http://tga-viewer1.software.informer.com/3.2/
I haven't been playing that much anymore, ever since I basically beat Feed The Beast... (I think 20 particle accelerators making 50 antimatter a second counts as beating) Again, as soon as I get the time to port the server, I will. The problem is final exams are coming up in the next couple of weeks, and that will be taking up most of my time
Oh, I Googled it prior to posting here -- whatever I was typing into the searchbar didn't turn up that "Alpha channel" trick in your first link, which isn't a channel I've seen before. Thanks for the extra help JediKnight: it's just the font from Star Warfare. (Yeah, I have no idea why I'm still dabbling in that game's area...) For the record, this is what the image looks like if you don't look at it from the alpha channel specifically (the pixels around the numbers and symbols are too close in colour for a magic wand to pick it out easily while preserving the transparency effects): ...what's even more troll about this image format is that the moment I copy-paste the image to another file, the alpha channel appears to get lost...
No worries, glad I could help. And I enjoy playing detective like this Oh, and if you never seen or heard alphachannel before, you should brush up your computer painting skills As far as I can remember, alphachannel doesn't automatically get copy/pasted. Do you do this in Photoshop, or somewhere else? If Photoshop I can check with my girlfriend, just to be sure. Or you could ask Google e.g. for "alpha channel copy paste" . Lookie here, at least applies to CS2: http://www.ps-scripts.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=300 Quoting: "My mistake, it's not a resize bug! It's the fact that copy-paste only copy-pastes RGB -- even if the alpha channel is extend-selected." And, something that should help you, from the same link: "You can Copy and Paste an Alpha Channel. You must have two images open and each one has to have an alpha channel. Select All with the channel layer active and copy then paste it into the other image and it will replace the one already there. "
Some new games Oioi, so my backlog is filling up again... I got a bunch of new stuff yesterday and today, and more is coming up: - First Wood War (realtime attack/defend, looks ok so far) - Where Angels Cry (adventure) - Mighty Dungeons (dungeon crawler) - Dungeon Hunter 4 (not sure about it, as it has consumable IAPs. But I liked DH1+2, so I will give it a shot) And upcoming: - Kingturn (should be out tomorrow) - All the Games Workshop stuff, lookie here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=183822
Hmm...COMPLETELY not related to gaming, I know, but for anyone who knows, what do you have to do and how much time would you have to spend if you want to pursue a career in anything relating to computer code (e.g. anything as simple as webpage designer to something more like a programmer)? It's becoming a bit of an interest of mine, but I'm not in the best of positions to simply discard the degree I'm already holding.
My girlfriend will kick you for the "simple as webpage designer" thing Honestly, if you don't want to do just "click a homepage together with a toolbox" , you need to know both about website building (which the toolboxes can do a great deal of) and design. For anything - provided you have the knack for it - I'd say: One year fulltime to get a good basic knowledge. Several years for good working knowledge plus underlying theories etc. , e.g. what you get when you study CS/programming at a university.
Hmm...might have to shelve that idea for now then: CSS and HTML code seem to be freely available on the net from what I'm seeing, but I've definitely got none of the theory behind good webpage design (going more from common sense and bits and pieces from all over the place). That, and I've yet to really look into toolboxes >.> Back to the world of bean counters...
You can always keep on learning in your free time, though. And - judging by some of the things you came up with - you have a good sense for design. You'd be surprised how often designers throw all commonsense out of the window, "because they have an inspiration" or some utter bollocks like that... Don't know what it's like in your place, but here in Europe most people aren't willing to pay for quality (web)design work anymore E.g. my girlfriend not only does website building/design, but also did design logos, slogans, etc. for her customers. But since a few years, that business is more or less non-existent, see reason above.
