Hey Ryan@gl i really respect you hanging around these forums and listening actively to the community but I got to tell you I'am very disappointed with gl in the last 2 years ever since Nova 3,They really haven't made a good game in that time period apart from tintin and asphalt 8.I liked them when they tried to be ambitious and created fun but flawed experiences like shadow guardian, zombie infection and scared odyssey etc.Nova 3 was their last great game it aced everything AppStore had to offer and was quite ahead of it's time, since then it seems to me that gl have stopped trying altogether none of their games are anything more than time wasters,A huge part of the problem might be that gl are trying to compete freemium games on the market.Freemium generally suits quick time wasters type games which are polar opposite to what gl have attempted. There's no middle ground here and all they have end up doing is mess up games to insert the freemium system into it and it has backfired badly.Remember gl became big because they were offering console type experiences on mobile not 2 minute time wasters and as such they should continue doing that.

Every other small dev can and will create simplistic time wasters that you play for 30min and delete but only few can create a full blown fps like nova 3 and gl are in that elite company.

Not really sure if that's possible, but again I don't have a background in development so I can't say for sure. I'm going to be talking to the team today about the online-only requirement and see what's going on.

I appreciate the constructive criticism/feedback on this issue.

That would limit the amount of people who could play a game, regardless of the developer. I still haven't upgraded my iPhone 5s to 7.1.

That's false. I've helped a good amount of people who have had this issue. As long as you can provide proof of purchase, we can refund your Google Play purchase if you had previously purchased it on our store. It just is confusing because it's involving two different stores and you'll need to go through our support team.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 isn't freemium, it's premium. It'll cost $4.99 at launch. We are still very much invested in making console-like experiences on mobile devices. TASM2 is a continuation of that trend, in my opinion.

@ryan Yes I know it's premium,my comment was about the Last year and a half of gl releases also always online requirement which most freemium games seem to have and they have it mostly to push ads in their games,But for a 5$ it's incomprehensible.

Seems like too many GL games are movie spin-offs or continuations of franchises. I would really like to see some new IPs. Sacred Odyssey, Zombie Infection, Hero of Sparta, all that was good not just because they were good games, but they were, on one level or another (and some more so than others) fresh, new titles with something interesting to say and do and play.

Now it's just TASM 1.1 with new graphics and story. Or Asphalt 8 (admittedly I loved that game). Or Gangstar 1.3, with shinier graphics and a bigger map.

    NEW stuff! Take a risk!

Or maybe I'm just pretending that the AppStore hasn't evolved heavily in the past 3-4 years and these ideas aren't a huge risk.

I'd like to see another fighting game from them, at least better than Blades of Fury.

And those who dislike the always connected requirement... Well you don't deserve an iPhone/iPad. Get something else! You can afford Apple gadget, yet cannot have connection :) or simply deal with it and stop complaining and buy something else.

    Dude that's kind of rude

  9. I am not going to get involved in this flamewar and name call, but maybe you should buy a console for all of your always online freemium games, since you seem so rich.

Well, only Captain America and TASM2 require an online connection in the last 1.5 years of releases. My understanding of the requirement is to push out more real-time events and it also allows us to provide better social features and cross-device play. Obviously, piracy is a concern as well.

I definitely understand that this feature isn't ideal and appreciate the comments. I am making sure to relay this information to the game team.

Your age range is now all figured out. No more need to continue this.

Thank you very much Ryan. I really hope that they will decide to change this always connected thing. It can really be a deal breaker. Especially for people who have iPads and iPods.

Gov, wtf man? Where do you live where you always have wifi? Being always connected is not practical with iPads and iPods. Sure I could spend an extra $130 just to have a cellular connection and pay 20 to 50 bucks a month for data. That's gets really expensive really quickly. I hope you just trolling for the f of it because I hope you truly don't believe your previous comments.

It's great that the online requirement allows things such real time events and better social features, but this is a single player game. Most of us don't want that and it's very annoying, as it becomes a memory holder when you're not connected to the internet. Anyways thanks for the support, and I hope things can change. :)

Nice of you to provide an explanation, Ryan. However, it doesn't seem like a constant connection is needed to achieve all of the elements you mentioned. Take, for instance, Gameloft's own Iron Man 3: that game regularly featured biweekly/monthly tournaments, had Facebook integration and allowed, if I remember correctly from some posts in these forums, for progress to be transferrable to other devices via Game Center; all of that without requiring a constant internet connection.

Obviously I have no insights as to the troubles the elements you mentioned might cause to a game without being online-only. However, I'd say, in my humble opinion, that Iron Man 3 managed to integrate everything you mentioned without needing a constant internet connection and never had as many technical issues as Captain America: The Winter Soldier did (a game which, by the way, I gingerly supported but have now been forced to stop playing due to the bugs I've already described in the game's own thread).

Like it or not, going the online-only route will, I believe, severely limit the core gamer base, as it relies on the assumptions that: a) every iDevice allows for a constant online connection anywhere (which obviously isn't true, as iPod Touch and sans-3G iPad users know all too well); b) every player won't mind spending money on his/her internet service to play the game for short periods of time; and c) every player willing to spend money on their internet service is also willing to pay an entrance fee (i.e. the game's price tag) on top of the following expense.

Let's keep one thing in mind: most of us who've been criticizing this online-only direction aren't doing so because we're just blindly hating on anything that bears Gameloft's name on it (although there might be some who, seemingly, fit this description). On the contrary, I believe that the majority of us were very excited to play this game, as, judging from the trailer, it appears to build on the foundation laid by Total Mayhem and TASM and add remarkable amounts of fan-service for good measure! By all accounts, the game seems to be worth playing, and is one I'd have loved to have bought first-thing this Thursday. However, the decision to force us to have a constant online connection reduced that interest to remarkably low levels, and the fact that it has raised such a backlash against that particular decision should be enough to show that a required connection might not be as viable an option moving forward (or indeed with the most recent/yet-to-be-released games).

I couldn't have written it better myself. You should be a professional writer. It's sad that you write better than most news articles. :)

Trust me , its not going to change , gayloft have been a moneyfce for a long time , they are not that kind of developer like foursaken media or rocketcat ..... Who listen to their fans and supporters , act to make them fell better about the game and earn money in a genius way . Just get along with it , save ur money for wayward soul and battleheart legacy , they are obviously a better choice than this ( ps : dont put ur expectation too high on BIA3 and MC5 either )

I understand completely where you're coming from and the points you raised. As I've stated before on this site, I don't have a background in development so I'm getting input from the Dev team later today on this to better understand it myself. I'll be putting up a blog post and coming back here with any extra info I get from the team.
