  1. Please please please make games ios 7.1 only if you want to combat piracy, don't penalize us loyal good supporters by making things always online. Games take up way too much bandwidth in cellular, sometimes almost 200mb. Don't reward the pirates by making it always online, reward us loyal customers. Please.

well like i said. its mostly to prevent iap cheating. the game itself will still be pirated its just unavoidable but they can still rectrict all the online features. But i'm wondering to...like how confident is gameloft to pull out a premium game wich requires internet connection for no apearent reason (since they can't just say to people ''we are sacrifying your freedom for more piracy security''). i mean when you pay 5$ for an ios game i think you're already in a premium mood. just how do they think people are gonna react to this after purchasing the game?

Let's just face the facts here , making it ios 7.1 only would limit the user install base even more then what it is right now . Personally now I don't think I'll be playing this game . I was so hyped up for it too .

It's a movie tie-in game. Did any of you really expect it to be good? You can probably count the number of good movie tie-in games on one hand. And I'm talking about ever, not just iOS.

Exactly, it's one thing when a game like the new Family Guy game requires an internet connection: sure, it doesn't have much in the way of gameplay, but it's easy to notice the need for social connectivity; plus, it's free. However, when we're talking about a purely single-player experience that comes with a 5$ price tag, then it just becomes unreasonable to compromise the player's experience that much.

Plus, like you said, if people are willing enough to accept that price tag, then it stands to reason that they either: a) might also be willing to spend money on IAPs; or b) won't want to buy IAPs, but are unlikely to acquire them illegally either (after all, why would you fork over 5$ for an entrance fee if you could illegally download the game as easily as you would IAPs?).

I'd be more sympathetic towards this new policy if Gameloft had been struggling financially, but that's not the case; quite the opposite, they've been steadily growing over the past couple of years, registering quickly increasing profits or a yearly basis. I understand that safeguarding a company's bottom line is Economics 101, but this is a case where a company that isn't being harmed all that much (if at all) is going to overzealous lengths to do so to the point where it's actually harming and alienating a large portion of its customers.

As it is, this new policy only seems to be harming those of us who've been supporting Gameloft over the years...

Another game with needed connection to play? So, I'll never play it while on a flight or a road trip through dead spots... Might not pick it up after all. Already had a couple times when I couldn't play Captain America. So, I've ended up just not playing that one much at all now. At least I can still play the first Spider Man game without a needed connection.

Honestly the game looks extremely good! Its actually a very good spiderman game unlike TASM 1 (i was watching the twitch streaming). My only complain so far is the permanent internet connection thing! And this is the second gameloft single player "premium" game with that feature. If this nonsense bullshit is their new standard then gameloft is already quickly turning into EA.

Oh, that's simple! If the iOS version requires Internet connection to play, I will grab the PC or console version.

Even though I don't know how feasible that'd be, I'd actually be up for something like the method described (for both TASM2 and CA:TWS). It might seem counter-intuitive to pay an added, say, 2$ on top of the original 5$, but that's the sort of IAP that I don't mind supporting, in that it allows the player the option to choose his/her own terms.

Hopefully all this negative feedback is being taken under consideration (and, hopefully, leads to some changes), as I can't really recall so many dissenting voices against such a gamebreaking aspect in a game in quite a long time...

I think pretty much everybody agrees that the whole "internet only" aspect really screws with the gaming experiance, and that there's really no good reason for having it there in the first place. Last time I checked, the console-versions of TASM2 didn't require a wifi connection, so what justifies the "mobile" version needing one?

I seriously hope all this feedback leads to some legitimate changes. It looks utterly fun, and a lot of hard work was clearly put into it. Unfortunately, it's kind of hard for me to admire all the hard work when I need the internet 24/7 to do so. It'd be a shame if nothing was done about the one factor that's frustrating so many people.

  12. Are you serious that the console version is not always online, but the Mobile Version is?

    So sad...

Not only that it's a console game (not saying that all console games don't need wifi) but it's a completely different developer and system.

But why does it require a constant internet connection,Is the world constantly evolving?multiplayer? For what? Piracy is the only reason behind it,if it was free I could understand that but for a premium game?....No Way.I'm not paying for additional data charges for no reason and for a game I've paid already.Another epic fail from gl it's because of this everything goes attitude mobile gamers are given such a poor name and rightly so.

P.s the game itself looks woefully outdated, seems like they added shiny shadows on enemies and slapped 2 in front on the name,Well good for casuals the'll eat up anything you give them anyway.

I know they're different developers, but still. It's a bit ridiculous that the game for the thing I put in my living room doesn't need wifi 24/7, but the game for the thing I put in my pocket does. There's a reason that the console versions don't need wifi, and that's because there's really no point to do so for a SINGLE PLAYER game. Who in their right mind is going to pay 5 bucks for a single player adventure game on their phone/tablet that doesn't work unless you've got unlimited 3G access or connected to a wifi hotspot? I'm really curious to see why the developers of the mobile version decided it was such a good idea to sacrafice portability (which is crucial to a mobile game) for piracy (which is a bit ridiculous, because nothing is really going to stop all pirates from trying to pirate).

This +100.If this sort of attitude was around when they released the terrible freemium crap six guns then things would have been different.

    It should be AMAZING.
    It could've been AMAZING.
It was so close to being AMAZING.
    And then the internet happened.

I hope this game sells ridiculously bad and they get a huge amount of 1 star reviews on the appstore that are all about the permanent connection. And it forces them to get rid of that crap! Thought they might make it freemium instead and keep that feature if this happens. Does anyone know if their recent single player captain america with the same internet crap is doing good on the store?

Hey , just save r energy for something better , whats the point arguing about this lame game from gameloft anyway ? Is a game from the well known best screw up company , Gameloft . Always expect the worst from them , as for the Modern Combat 5? I think they r going to screw up that too, judging from the silence of that game for soo long .
