Yeah doubt they would but it must be tempting especially with how much time it looks like they put into this map. I honestly wouldn't mind it tbh
It seems like in the movie, cops don't like Spidey too much. What if in the game you could like raise your "wanted" or "vigilante" level and have the cops come after you as Spidey?? That'd be kinda cool, no?
I will save everyone the next 3 weeks of there time. This thread will blow up With people saying how great it's gonna be. Then when it's released in NZ we will get a person that doesn't like the game to much. Then there will be a influx of people bashing Gameloft for the next 24 hours until its released in the us. Then will all see it actually plays great and will enjoy another great Gameloft game Seriously though, gl has been in my opinion the best iOS dev there is. There was a stretch where they were pumping paymiums out every 3 months and they were all great. Let's hope we're back on track
I am just so excited for this... I can't wait to see how this will control, because I absolutely love Spider-man games.
If this is freemium crap like MIB3... I will slap a kitten. Don't do it, Gameloft. For the sake of the kitten. Kidding, of course.
Confirmed not to be freemium. It will be a premium paid for title with iap that will short cut you to more powerfull combos but that are not necessary to progress as xp alone lets you upgrade combos. Excellent news in my opinion. (same applies to asphalt 7 as a side note)
Yes, that's the cycle. Though not all their games were "great" by any stretch...silent ops and 9mm were sh*t
Well Silent ops was total crap, but I actually thoroughly enjoyed 9mm. Yeah the story was brutal and there was too much swearing, but the graphics, weapons, maps and controls were good. This game has high expectations for me though. I'm kinda thinking Total Mayhem combined with a free roam Manhattan environment. That's an absolute killer of a combination.
True. Adding lots of skyscraper's doesn't make the city look full. Thanks for the excellent news Wow... just wow... Unreal engine is really overrated. It is like the worst engine in terms of running an app on iPod Touch 4G. The graphics besides, are not that great. If you've seen MC3 or Nova 3 in action, it's not bad. The graphics are quite impressive in fact. I'm glad they're not using UE so I can at least play this...
The trailer doesn't impress me so much, to be honest. The combat that you see is just kinda "meh". Well, I hope I'm wrong.
Right, and that was released a year and a half ago. The combat animations don't look to me like they've improved since then. It looks a bit rigid to me. Then again, maybe my expectations are unrealistic given that I just watched the trailer for the console version. I'll probably end up getting it anyway.
Yeah, I know where you're coming from, but it looks pretty awesome considering it's a mobile game. And considering all the freemium crap Gameloft's been releasing, it's pretty exciting.
1. Infinity Blade doesn't look that good on iPod Touch 4G. 2. Real Racing 2 was not made using UE3. But after repeating the trailer, the graphics look A LOT worse than in MC3 or Nova 3... A huge step down in my opinion.
Unreal engine is simply not best suited to mobile platform. Unity is a better option for mobile. Unreal requires 1gb of space for infinity blade series which is essentially on rails. How much space will an open world game require? Probably a lot more than the 2 gb limit on apps. Unreal may do great graphics but ram, battery and space has to be considered. Plus you mention Real Racing 2 in a later post. That's Firemints in house engine. Awesome game with amazing graphics, yes. Not Unreal though. (Amazing game that will not leave my iPad till third one comes out) Gameloft still have the Unreal Engine licence and there is one coming this year using it but a new engine requires a lot of work to become familiar with, recognise its limitations and optimise it. Baking on graphics doesn't make for a great environment. Gamelofts engine is good enough. Nova 3 is a good enough example. Plus the game as seen in the trailer is not the final release build, so there will be improvements between now and launch. Draw distance on a sandbox game is just as important and that is meant to be top notch. Plus none of us have played the game yet so commenting on the poor quality of the graphics of a pre release game is a null point as they will certainly be cleaned up and sharpened to at least MC3 level, which if that's not good enough for mobile users, it might be time to head off and play consoles only. One last thing. You mention they have the licence with about a year and haven't released anything using unreal, how long do you think it takes to develop a graphically intense game for any platform?? Chair and Unreal will tell you that developing a mobile game now is getting close to console level of development time. And that's from the people that are most familiar with Unreal Engine.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I disagree. Ever played max payne?? 9mm is a total copycat in gameplay, and doesn't even get it right. The story is terribly cliche shit. The voice acting was god-awful. What's with the incessant swearing?? If I want that I'll walk down to the park. Controls were good, true, better that MP. But the guns all felt the same, none were fun to use, and I thought the game just stunk overall. My opinion. @ sidgoku You have no idea what you're talking about, mc3 and especially nova 3 look amazing, and they run GL's in house engine. Wow does nova look great, like early ps3 or 360 games. (on a5) Unreal just doesn't work well, unbearable lag in a4 and low framerates. Sorry, just doesn't. Personally if I see that a game is an unreal game, I think of it as a major detractor from it, dark meadow and Infinity blade excluded, obviously. Yes spiderman doesn't look all that great, but it looks better than backstab for an open world...
